But really, most of Sydney is like Newtown.

Not where I live Smiley  Double Bay is hilarious to walk around, all the has been glamour pusses trying to keep up appearances with injectables, the extreme opposite of Newtown.

You live in Double Breast Implants?

Haha no, but I use the ANZ there and sometimes go to the farmers market. When I'm walking around I play 'spot the real lips'.

One year, mate and I booked into a hotel in Newtown for Anzac Day, totally unknowing country boys that we are... had no idea it was a gay pub until we went to the bar for a drink and got looks from the denizens....

Once only...

"Hello, sailors!"

"We're not falcon sailors!  We work for a living!"

Gay pub?

Newtown is a gay suburb.

Has some great restaurants.

That's rubbish

The best restaurants are in Leichhardt.
You can have a different meal at each of the establishmens in Norton street and go for more than two weeks before you eat a meal from the same country.
Good food, great people, wonderful environment.

Better than the slop the pooftahs serve in Newtown.

And in case you want to know how I know this.
I lived in Marrickville for many years and have family in Leichhardt and Petersham.

Not Perth, trying to pretend they know Sydney

I'm from Sydney - I know it pretty well.

And, I didn't say Newtown had the best restaurants - I said it had great restaurants.

Good, inexpensive Thai, Vegetarian, Indian, Greek, and Italian eating.

I've dined in just about every restaurant on King St, and drank in every bar.

Back in your box, old timer.

Bahaha!!!  Grin

Where I live, last night we ate freshly caught Mulloway, abalone, Cray and Roo on the spit. Only the beers cost money. Mushrooms, Meaty Tomatos and the new 'grass' that is like asparagus but grows wild just down near the swamp.
Everyone sitting 'out doors' enjoying the evening weather. Some Flatheads were also enjoyed.

No pretentious waitering staff dressed in black and trying to act aloof to their own customers. A few Tourists joined in because we were all having a good time and they couldn't believe that they could just join and enjoy a good feed with locals for 'free'.

Now that's a real 'Australian' Restaurant  Wink
