And the tiresome Lefties just keep on trying to deny it all.
And this should be right down the Socialists' alley - massive rorting of WELFARE uncovered and featured in TV news.
If Labor gets in this will become the normal behavior just like before. Especially for the illegal invaders Labor will bring in on the leaky boats. More than 1,000 rich welfare cheats have been forced to repay over $40 million to taxpayers under a recent crackdown, the Federal Government says.
Amount recouped by state:
ACT: $304,621
NSW: $15,578,530
NT: $18,790
QLD: $2,462,520
SA: $1,129,667
TAS: $672,245
VIC: $21,069,394
WA: $2,192,260
Centrelink has been working with Australia's financial intelligence agency to identify welfare recipients with large amounts of unexplained wealth.
Using data-matching technology, suspicious bank transactions can be instantly cross-checked against Human Services Department records.
Centrelink has recouped $43.4 million since July 2015, with more than one third of that amount being returned this financial year.
Human Services Minister Michael Keenan said "there's a lot of money that can be saved" by targeting wealthy rorters.
"These people have been defrauding the system in a very substantial way — that's on average $43,000 per individual," Mr Keenan said.
"We don't accept that sort of behaviour."The Government said the fraudsters were unable to name the source of the large sums, or why they did not declare the money to Centrelink.
One New South Wales disability support pensioner did not declare any income over four years.
But it was revealed $700,000 had been deposited into their bank accounts during the same period.
They were forced to repay $160,000 in welfare.
At least one of the cheats was criminally prosecuted.
Banks are required to report suspicious transactions to the Australian Transaction Reports Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC).
"What we're doing now is using a very high-tech approach to identify those people," Mr Keenan said.
"We're going to continue to work with AUSTRAC to do that.
"If anyone is doing the wrong thing, we will find them, and this shows we have the capability to do that."https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-03-16/centrelink-rorters-forced-to-replay-over-...
