I think eventually the big manufacturers will take over.

Australia doesn't do mass-production cheap Asian/Indian labour pretty well.
Asian/Indian doesn't do 'neat, compact, independent, efficient, original, innovative' small Australian Business's very well.

Seems like success to me.  Cheesy

Just quoting Musk from yesterday's news --- 'Tesla will be broke in 10 months'

yep, the ACE EV looks pretty basic, but it's a start.  Interesting to read in the article that they believe 80% will be sold overseas

Musk actually send a email to his workers saying they had to look at costs and if they kept spending like they are would run out of cash in 10 months..... nothing about going bankrupt….it's funny how things get turned around so much. I guess we will have to check again in a month or 2 and see how they are doing. they only have 5.2 billion USD cash to burn at the moment poor guys Smiley

They want to keep expanding fast which takes money and I could see where a lot of money could be wasted doing that, it just looks like they are keeping the ship clean.... Wink

Apart from the fact they are already making their own EVs.

Apart from the fact they are already making their own EVs.

Nissan are the only ones with any volume and they are now where near as good as a Tesla (about half the range for the same price). VW MIGHT start to make a good effort in 2-3 years as they have just released their ID first model to be made soon..
China is the only electric vehicle market they don't dominate and by the end of the year will have their Chinese factory up and running and more than likely they will be number 1 there too, (at the moment they have the 6th best selling car in china)

70% of the market in the USA and best selling in Europe as well, ohh even though small also best selling in Australia.

Tesla have gone from  making 2000 cars to 250,000 in 7 years... the other manufacturers if they get serious might start making good numbers in 5-7 years ,in that time Tesla should be well over a million cars a year, considering they are all expensive high markets cars with great profit margins it will be probably 10 years before any other manufacturer can touch them...
The other car manufacturers have to balance their existing investment's in ICE vehicles and compete against themselves in make electric ones, its a mess for them.
Considering the other manufacturers have had 8 years to compete with Tesla id say it will be a long time until anyone else takes over.Wink

I'm saying that being the 1st doesn't mean you get it right and therefore win.

Yes and there are so many more examples where the first is still number one.
IF Tesla work out the bugs and make their car self driving, they have been making their cars for the last 5 years with all the hardware needed, they already have a fleet of 350,000 -400,000 cars with the hardware for self driving and on target to make another 350,000 this year. No other car maker or autonomous driving system has access even close to those numbers.
That kind of a head start will be hard to beat. Wink
