I think eventually the big manufacturers will take over.
I think they missed their chance, I cant see Elon sharing....
Apart from the fact they are already making their own EVs.
Nissan are the only ones with any volume and they are now where near as good as a Tesla (about half the range for the same price). VW MIGHT start to make a good effort in 2-3 years as they have just released their ID first model to be made soon..
China is the only electric vehicle market they don't dominate and by the end of the year will have their Chinese factory up and running and more than likely they will be number 1 there too, (at the moment they have the 6th best selling car in china)
70% of the market in the USA and best selling in Europe as well, ohh even though small also best selling in Australia.
Tesla have gone from making 2000 cars to 250,000 in 7 years... the other manufacturers if they get serious might start making good numbers in 5-7 years ,in that time Tesla should be well over a million cars a year, considering they are all expensive high markets cars with great profit margins it will be probably 10 years before any other manufacturer can touch them...
The other car manufacturers have to balance their existing investment's in ICE vehicles and compete against themselves in make electric ones, its a mess for them.
Considering the other manufacturers have had 8 years to compete with Tesla id say it will be a long time until anyone else takes over.
