Crudaders to change name

Oh dear, here we go.

Critics have raised concern over the use of a name they say is offensive to the Muslim faith.

Canterbury Crusaders - province Rugby team in the Super rugby competition.

This is Far Ken ridiculous.

What is it now - the Canterbury Cringers?  Sydney suburb to be renamed to placate Muslim hurties.. Canterbury now to be re-named Trotterbury or Gallopbury?

Crusaders... your point being?

What were the Muslim people involved in the Crusades and Muslims invasions of Europe called?  We need to expunge that term or those terms from any public hearing or seeing... might upset someone.

Gee - had again!

What about the other question?  About the titles for Muslims invading etc?  Are they to be stricken from the public record in Islam Central and made into un-words on account of the seemingly endless acts of extreme violence carried out by Muslims worldwide?

This isn't a thread about the event.

It's about the team - The Crusaders.

No words are being stricken from the public record.

So - which Muslim names of towns, cities, teams, and everything else with any vague reference to the Crusades and Muslim invasions of Europe are being changed by Muslims as an affront to civilisation?

Went looking for names of Muslim warriors - titles that is - and can find plenty of reverse history about how the poor Muslims were attacked in Spain and so forth and eventually driven out... nobody mentioned that pre-Mo - these were not Muslim areas at all.....

Saracen?  Is that  the only reference to the AntiCrusades that equally needs to be removed from public gaze?

I am seriously beginning to entertain doubts about your sanity, greg.

No, i think Gordy gets very excited when he gets to report on something that will propagate hate and get him attention.

I think he gets so excited, details don't matter to him.

It's just a sign that people are, in general, trying to be more respectful in the world they share with other people.

I don't think getting angry at it is a productive response.

It is certainly not the intended one.

I think he gets so excited, details don't matter to him.

Let’s see, lower case “I” and superfluous comma.  Smiley

I exclusively use lower case 'i', except for at the beginning of sentences.

It is quite deliberate.

The comma wasn't superfluous. It reflected the tone of my comment.

But still, mistakes in posts are one thing ... thread titles though?

At least, that is certainly not the intent.

Thinking that up?   Undecided

The Crusaders are a New Zealand rugby union team, based in Christchurch.

Crusaders is not eBen the term used. It's crusades.

The people involved in the Crusades - what were they called?

I'm curious.

Crusaders... your point being?

My point is, he's wrong.

What about the other question?  About the titles for Muslims invading etc?  Are they to be stricken from the public record in Islam Central and made into un-words on account of the seemingly endless acts of extreme violence carried out by Muslims worldwide?

No words are being stricken from the public record.

And you have the gall to say no one is pandering to Muslims and their perpetual offence?

It's not 5 mins after this tragic event and all of a sudden one of the priorities is to change the name of. Super Rugby Union side because some bunch of guilt ridden self loathing sycophants think it relevant to not offend Muslims because some tradgedy beyond their control happened in NZ.

Complete PC soft cork leftard lunacy.

So?

I'm just giving you the facts.

Are you really? Get over yourself.... you prat.

I think he gets so excited, details don't matter to him.

If it's true.... then who is responsible for propagating any hate?

The suggestion that that sports teams name will now offend Muslims because of the tragic shootings is bloody ridiculous and is ground work for widening division.

Of course it would be an easy guess that you'd be the type to think it and go along with it.

All this guff about Crusaders this and Crusaders that... MUSLIMS invaded Europe long before the Crusades... and captured the Holy city etc...

Tell it to the Valencians on Anti-Invasion Day...

https://www.officeholidays.com/countries/spain/valencian_community_day.php

"Known as 'Día de la Comunidad Valenciana', this holiday commemorates the capture of the city of Valencia from Moorish forces in 1238 by King James I of Aragon.

Founded as Valencia by the Romans, the city passed from Christian to Moorish control from the 8th century to the 13th century.

In the spring of 1238, King James I of Aragon laid siege to Valencia and after five months, the Moors finally surrendered on 28 September. On 9 October, James took possession of the city."

How the hell would you know the intent?

Have the Christchurch Muslims come out with a complaint about the team name?

If not..... it should not have even been raised in the first place.

Just some guilt ridden virtue signalling idiot bring more unwarranted attention to the whole shocking incident.

Even more interesting is that your ascribed intent is the same as the one i chose ... i just used less inflammatory terminology.

I mean  using it in conjunction with the murders in Christchurch...a person has killed at least 50 people because  they did WHAT for goodness sakes....now someone wants to stop people using the word crusader because...

I think Kiwis are utterly horrified, Cods. As we all are.

I think this is just people desperately trying to show respect and solidarity and fumbling a little.

I think far too much is being made out of it and odds are it will all blow over in no time.

I suspect it will be used as a vehicle for outrage for considerably longer though. Please don't fall into that trap.

Downe at Ye Olde Mothra Schoole for Intellectual Delinquents:-

"Now, Class!  Now that i've established my personal lack of ego and thus my moral superiority through personal self-effacement ... we really must begin to ensure that YOUR moral superiority is rendered correctly...."

"But Teach - wasn't that attitude just like the doctor at the gate of the concentration camp - or the old White Man's Burdenist of past times dealing down on Blacks and other Niqqers??"

"Not at all  - my personal moral superiority is far above theirs!"

"Ahh - isn't that an oxymoron, given self-effacement as the yardstick, Teach?"

"Why you little.... go and stand in the corner...."

I doubt any Muslim has actually asked it to be changed, it's just the loveys bashing their own culture.

If they have, they're the exact Muslims we should be going out of our way to upset as they need to harden up and understand they immigrated to a place with different ideas.

Grin like I said you don't know what you're talking about....... they are Rugby League(NRL) players.

Rugby is short for Rugby Union....started at the Rugby school in the U.K.

It's also called Rah Rah because it's played at most exclusive private schools.

That's right GNADS.
Rugby is the word used most to describe Rugby Union,
not 'League' or 'footy'. Rugby Union people never referred to their Code as "Footy", at the most it was 'Football' - but that was most so in regards to the 'football' itself.

Forgive Peckerhead. He lives over in WA and knows a lot about the NRedneckL  Wink

Have we found ourselves a couple of apologists for footballers who rape?

A priority? Is it? Don't you think you're being a tad hysterical?

So far we have ONE politician who has welcomed talks about changing the name.

Quote:
A senior New Zealand politician has welcomed discussions to change the name of the Super Rugby champion Crusaders team in the wake of the Christchurch massacre.

I think you need to take a Bex and have a lie down

Farcough Neddy..... that a politician has even mentioned it / or suggested or has taken it on board after it being suggested by some limp wristed lefty like you ...now ... in this short time frame is just BS.

If Anyone is in need of taking a powder it's you.

why wouldn't a politician mention it? You do know they want people to vote for them, right? To do that they jump on whatever issues they feel are more likely to get people to vote for them. Who do you think will get more votes this week? that NZ minister who welcomed talks, or the bastion of the far right, Senator Anning?

Cheesy Cheesy

A very disturbing appalling use of tradgedy to chase votes if that what it is on eithers part.

no less than Anning using it for his political point scoring.  Cheesy Cheesy

They're politicians, I expect no less from them.

End of the world ..... exaggeration... glossy it up

I said albeit pointedly that it was ridiculous and typical of handwringing virtue signalling self loathing lefty soft corks who are hellbent on appeasing for what wasn't even in the frame post incident.

The only issue raised was the expediency of identifying and returning bodies for burial.

Probably believes Australia Day was an invasion commemoration.... not a day of national celebration for all Australians, Black, White or Tinted..... maybe they want a full review of what Australian citizenship should mean.... we could have classes of citizens based on colour or creed.... though we're a bit late on that one ....

**cue mothra to say that means that anyone who says 'balderdash' to whining non-Aboriginal street marchers over nothing real is 'playing the victim' .....
