Coalition cancels Milo Yiannopoulos visa
Mar 18th, 2019 at 4:04pm

The Morrison government is attempting to reposition itself against rightwing extremism, cancelling the visa of far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulosin the wake of the attacks after earlier allowing him to visit Australia.

The Coalition has a patchy record on confronting white nationalism, after government senators voted for a motion that it is “OK to be white” in Octoberonly to later claim this was an “administrative error”.

Morrison himself as shadow immigration minister reportedly told shadow cabinet in 2011 the Coalition should do more to capitalise on concerns about Muslim immigration, comments which he has now denied.

Immigration minister David Coleman said on Saturday that comments about Islam made by Yiannopoulos in the wake of the Christchurch massacre were “appalling and foment hatred and division” and he would not be allowed in the country.

It comes a week after Coleman approved Yiannopoulos’ visa against the advice of the home affairs department, which said the commentator may fail the character test to enter Australia.

Leftists and the Ayatollahs have a lot in common when it comes to criticism of Islam, they don't tolerate it.

Senior Labor frontbencher Tony Burke personally lobbied the government in support of a business visa for an Islamic extremist and hate preacher who advocated the execution of homosexuals and subjugation of women, but was later denied entry to Australia.

Mr Burke, a former immigration minister, made personal representations on behalf of Mohammed Rateb Abdalah Ali al-Nabulsi, whom Australian intelligence officials had declared a hate preacher and whose views on women in particular, an internal report claimed, would be “abhorrent” to most Australians.

The Australian has confirmed Mr Burke, the member for Watson in southwestern Sydney, wrote to the Australian embassy in Amman, Jordan, on July 21 last year claiming to be acting on behalf of The Voice of Islam radio station, which had invited Mr Nabulsi, a Syrian, to Australia as a guest speaker at a charity event and to do talkback radio shows.

It is understood Mr Burke’s office had called Immigration to inquire about the status of the man’s visa application before writing to the department.

Mr Burke’s intervention came ahead of a Labor and Greens- backed Senate inquiry into the so-called au pair scandal embroiling Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton, which today will hear evidence from AFL chief Gillon McLachlan and Home Affairs secretary Michael Pezzullo

In November, Immigration told him he would be refused a visa under subsection 501 on the ground he failed the character test

“Labor frontbencher Tony Burke sought a business visa for an Islamic scholar and hate preacher who was denied entry into Australia ... Mohammed Rateb Abdalah Ali al-Nabulsi was eventually denied entry to Australia, despite the opposition frontbencher's efforts in July last year, The Australian reported on Wednesday. The Voice of Islam radio station had invited Mr Nabulsi to Australia for a series of public engagements and sought the help of Mr Burke to secure his visa."[30]Burke was accused by Peter Dutton of acting on behalf of a
constituent to bring an Islamic Scholar to Australia to speak at an event.

This was later proved to be untrue as Mr Burke, in fact, wrote to the department requesting information about a visa for Mr Nabulsi, however, as Mr Burke is not in Government, the department withheld information from Mr Burke about the security status of this person.

However, Dutton is quite happy to subvert his own department policies to bring Au Pairs to Australia!

Hate preachers from Hizb ut-Tahrir are regularly allowed in to preach their hate out at Lakemba so it's pandering and hypocritical to deny their opposition a voice.

Don't worry, all he has to do is wait for Labor to get in and they will welcome him on a leaky boat and allow him to invade Australia.

As usual - I say let him have his say and let the people decide for themselves as true adults..... if he's a fool, people will not listen..... if he's right, they just might listen ... what are governments afraid of?

They can't be afraid of such people being fools.....

ATTACKS?  You mean there was more than one...... how many occurred here in Oz....?? Is this another tsunami?

WHITE?  So only whites can be 'nationalistic'?

You mean it's not OK to be White?  Don't tell my grand-children that - their grampa is a mean old f*cker when aroused.... and their dad is the kind who still looks and behaves like a guy who would breeze through SEAL selection and training and would laugh at the hardships.
