4-year-old raped by tutor’s father, kin allege police laxity
The girl was severely wounded and is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of a hospital in west Delhi, police said. Her condition is out of danger, her family said.

A four-year-old girl was raped allegedly by the father of her tutor in west Delhi on Friday. The 52-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, police said.

Deputy commissioner of police (west) Monika Bhardwaj said that the suspect was arrested, after a case of rape under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered at the Punjabi Bagh police station. “The first information report (FIR) was registered based on a complaint by the girl’s mother,” said Bhardwaj.

Investigators, who did not wish to be identified, said the girl’s medical examination confirmed that she was raped.

A man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl at a Melbourne train station last month has been charged.

The 34-year-old suspect, from Footscray, Victoria, handed himself in to a metropolitan police station on Monday, police said.

Detectives from the Transit Safety Division had urged the accused predator to come forward after CCTV footage captured a man leaving the Footscray Railway Station on February 21 at the time of the attack.
