they *will* use it to introduce more stringent gun laws but

Spot

Not stringent but they will certainly erode existing rights, We dont have a firearm registration regime in NZ , so the police have no idea how many guns are owned and by whom. 50,000 came into the country last year and the police wouldnt  have a clue who owns 80% of them

With a bit of luck.

Not at all Mr Peccy, I own a number of firearms and will fight to keep them

Will you hand them in if the Law requires it...or get them registered and yourself licenced to have them?

The law doesn't even know I have them in my possession lol, And the fighting I was referring to was legal and lobbying

When Howard introduced his gun laws, I had three rifles and the authorities were not aware I had them.  I handed them in as the Law required and they were later destroyed.

Over here we are a little more protective of our rights,  A bit like the NRA in the states

Weren't they destroyed by a hydraulic press in front of you?

Is it true that you can buy an AR-15 in NZ?

Of course it is true.  Those guns he had were registered and he was licensed to have them.  Work it out from there, Bobby.

Yes - I just wanted a NZ resident who has guns to confirm it. BigP.
It seems strange that you can buy a semi-automatic military assault weapon and plenty of magazines & ammo.

No, I did not personally witness that.  But that is what happened to all rifles handed in, assuming the Cops did not go rogue.

I know someone who handed his rifle in.
It was destroyed by a hydraulic press in front of him.
It squashed the barrel and the mechanism.

Don't know how you missed the news reports Bob, because I posted them in here a few times

most of the guns in circulation now  AND many of the guns seized from gangs and crims, by the authorities own admittance, were guns which had been seized during Howard's fake Port Arthur massacre -- guns which, according to Howard and his goons, had allegedly been 'destroyed'

yet there they are, out in circulation right now

and in the hands of thugs and crims

NOT destroyed

no, SOLD ON, by the 'authorities'

And this is interesting and rarely discussed:

The AR15 used in the Broad Arrow Cafe murders has a far more interesting history. This firearm was handed into police for destruction as part of an amnesty. Martin Bryant then allegedly purchased this firearm from a firearms dealer in Tasmania. The dealer in question was never found guilty of supplying a firearm to an individual without a firearms licence. All that is known for sure is that the AR15 was handed into the police for destruction and its next confirmed location was in the hands of Martin Bryant.

I am not surprised you chose not to show where that came from which is here:

Link.

It was written by a nobody who did not cite any link for any claim he made in the Sporting Shooter sponsored story.
