I used to shoot the heads off matches with a BB gun from the end of the back yard.

Probably similar level of difficulty.

My best shot was to shoot down a clump of spitfire caterpillars from a gum tree branch of about 2 mm thickness from 30 feet away with an air rifle.  Cool

About 12 years of age at the time.

My Granddad was a medal-winning rifle shooter ... perhaps it runs in the genes?  Grin

My targets were at a 25 yard small bore rifle range.
As per anyone else I could
put the the bullet through a target not much bigger than a 20 cent piece.
I would seldom miss - it was all about holding your breath
so as not to move the rifle.
Subsonics are very accurate.

Would a .22 bring down this?

I once nearly scored a high enough score to be awarded Marksman Badges with an M16 rifle when I was in the Army.   That was firing at 100 metres and 300 metres.  The M16 was a POS though.  It always suffered stoppages and some even used to drop their magazines without warning.    Roll Eyes

Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

That's a good effort,

I have a South African colleague who was in the SADF in the 70's who swore the most reliable rifle was always the AK.

I have a really old Argentinian military (no history on where it was used etc that I can find) bolt action 30-06, not very accurate over about 400M but is like firing a cannon at close range, has no grooves for scopes etc so no one wanted it. I can see why the worlds defense forces went down to 223/5.56.

I shot a tick off a camels scrotum at 240 yards, when I got my laser rangefinder and also used google earth I discovered it was a much shorter distance than I thought...lol

I use a Nikon Prostaff rimfire scope with BDC reticle so no worries out to 150 yards with no wind.

If I dial in 30 MOA I can take it out to 250 yards, wind really knocks the .22lr around on longer shots.

I use a 7mm-08 for hunting.

I shot a half full 2lb propane bottle that I had popped on top of half a bucket of Kn03 and sugar mixed together,  Lit the kno3 mix waited a couple of secs then nailed the can, quite impressive , the round went right through the can and a highly pressurised jet of gas exited either side of the can and it started spinning and came right at us. amazing how quickly peeps can move when they feel threatened lol

My best shoot that I can actually verify was at the national champs in NZ , cant remember the year , around 2000 im thinking,, It was the 200 meter stand, The rifle I was using was a Parker Hale XV Varmiter  heavy barrel in 22-250 cal , I came in third. This was a free standing shoot , No tight leather jackets  ,It was also timed 30 seconds a shot, 5 shots, I also at a similar period entered into a .22 silhouettel target shoot with a couple of mates from the North Auckland Deerstalkers assc,In this comp I used an "ANSCHUTZ Model 1408  ED SUPER", we came in second if my memory serves me well

And I have a mate that was in the south African  special forces , and fought the communist insurgency in Angola, They were dropped in to identify bombing targets , and they would sweep up afterwards, woman and kids , they whacked them all  , This messed up my friend , One of his closet colleagues at the time after returning from a mission went home shot his wife and young son then himself ,,

But as you mentioned the Kalashnikov is a great weapon
