Here's an offer Mr Baron.  You show me ONE fact in Kelly's opinion piece, and I'll deal with it.

Apparently, there are 36 doctors on Manus Island.  But......I assume they are there as local citizens looking after the locals and not supplied by Australia specifically to look after the people we plonked there.

There are a zillion links like this:

Link.

What is the current population of Manus Island (excluding detainees)? In 2011 it was around 50,000. Having 36 Doctors for that many people is better than what Country Australia has.

How many detainees are still resident on Manus Island?

What are the medical facilities there?

Answer the question.

Paul Kelly is a political hack for the LNP.  Simple as that.  I know.

Which part of it do you contest.

"The intent is obvious: to get as many people to Australia as quickly as possible."

It certainly will happen very quickly now.

The intent is to make sure people receive medical attention.

For what! they have many doctors there already, many more than in most country towns here.

They don't have the range of specialists, mental health practitioners, and medical equipment needed though.

We're talking about people who need a bit more than just a visit to the GP.

They're inadequate.

They don't have the range of specialists, mental health practitioners, and medical equipment needed.

We're not talking about people who just need to get a prescription filled.

REALLY?

Doctors don't "fill prescriptions"...

IF their REAL problem is MENTAL HEALTH ... we already have enough here at OzPol .. so we have a instant "panel" to give them a prescription for whatever  ...

I'd appoint Aussie as Chief Mental Health Assessor ... he obviously has some experience with this.  Certain others can be of assistance.  His choice.

Good Point VC. Those dirty illegals who try to touch up female medical staff, have more Medics posted to them than many Regional areas in Australia's rural/country scene.

Yes, really.

And no, doctors don't fill prescriptions, they do write them though.

The facilities on Manus are inadequate in some circumstances - it's really that simple.

Moreover, the doctors there generally don't have extensive experience dealing with asylum seekers and refugees.

People seem very excited about the least reliable poll available, Just wait for the next polls to see if anything really happened, This isn't the first time that this poll found a narrowing gap where there wasn't one.

Only a day or two earlier the News Poll seen no change, it was also taken after the legislation was passed. Too early to tell - maybe who knows.

If the poll is as accurate as juliar thinks, that means the ALP has won.

My sympathies go to the Lefties who built their hopes on a sand castle that collapsed as soon as the waves hit it.

The question on everyone's minds now is how much further will Labor fall ? NewsPoll should be a back breaker for Labor and the Greenies.

Scomo is very grateful that the unions kept Bill Shorten there as Bill's charismatic used wet tea bag performance makes people wince with revulsion.
