I don't know there're implications of antisemitism by saying she was a Jewish student. Just look at the Jill Meagher news reports and they clearly say she was Irish. It's merely stating that she was not from Australia, a visitor.

From the sounds of it, there are some particularly gruesome aspects to this murder.

It's horrific for so many people closely involved and very sad once again for Melbourne.
We don't have a very good track record when it comes to our crazies. We seem to breed them like rabbits. and they're always coming up with new ways to shock us.

In a perfect world, we should all have the right to go about our lives day and night without any fear of attack, but it's not a perfect world and never will be.

I'm getting sick up and fed with this defiance attitude that if you fear them then you let them win.
The message should be that they're out there nomatter how safe you think you should be.

Don't make predictable patterns, especially if walking at night. Don't trust in strangers that go out of their way to make contact with you. ..All the do's and dont's that were once taught still ring true today. It's an odds game that if you leave yourself open, then eventully you're gonna be a victim.

The same goes with so many other aspects of life like, leaving your house unlocked, not using condoms, taking unknown drugs, not wearing a seatbelt..etc. There's always something or someone looking to take you down momentarily or permanently.

The chances are that you can do all of the right things and still be a victim because everybody is a victim in the end, however, it's hard to gauge how many bullets you may have dodged throughout your lifetime by employing a few obvious personal safety measures.
