Last summer, French Tennis Federation President Bernard Giudicelli made a statement emphasizing that tight-fitting outfits will no longer be allowed at the French Open.

On a different topic, I don't see why the prize money for the women's final is the same as the men's final. The women only play three sets at most and the final often doesn't exceed 2.5 hours. The men's final will often be a five set match exceeding 4 hours.

Grand Slam tournaments should have the women win at least 3 sets if they want to earn the same amount as the men.

Well exception, exception, exception, Williams brothers should be paid the same as men players.

thats an old argument.....

at the end of the day it comes down to BUMS ON SEATS......and the women draw in as many spectators as the men.....

women do not have the strength or staying power of MEN.. we do not carry the muscle mass it takes to stay that long.....

when it comes to strength    men will always outlast women.....it isnt a fair playing field.....

fans of tennis   are just as happy watching the women as the men......when the stands are empty for the womens final...maybe!

Tennis is a bad game to play.
It relies on you being able to change direction very quickly.
That puts huge strain on your: ankles, knees & your hip.
Too many players end up with appalling injuries that
cause them a lifetime of suffering.

Don't encourage anyone to play tennis.

Capitosonora is onto something here.

Remember boring guys like Ivan Llendl would be #1
and the guy with a temper like McEnroe would always be the Runner-Up.

But in female Tennis, the Runner-up was always better looking than the #1 female (most often the ugly).

So the Runner-Up Male (Prince Harry)
gets the better looking Runner Up Female (Meghan)
Compared to the #1 Male (Prince William)
and the #1 Female (Kate).

Oh well, there's an advantage and disadvantage to everything isn't there!?  Wink

Don't get the Academy Award.
Chances are, you get the better looking female instead  Wink

The Williams Brother's are out there to remind the guys who become #1, what they get to hold hands with.  Grin

Yes - but Sport is designed to get you fit, not 'injured' (even over a long time).
It's pretty sad when people have to 'injure' themselves for money. NRL & AFL come to mind quickly.

I think the Golfers are smart, because they play a Sport but do not get injured, but they don't really get 'fit' either  Roll Eyes It's 'too soft' a sport.

The best Sports are the ones that get you 'fit'.
The worst ones are the ones that get you : injured, strained, chronically used to being fatigued (CFS), killed and looking 15 years older than what you really are from system exhaustion. There's more I'm sure.

Get fit.
Do Sport.
...a good one.

My choice of Sporting Fitness is Pole Dancing.
As a participant then, I...  well - I don't actually participate in any 'sport' to get fit. I'm too busy working hard labour like a Convict!

You're right Cods. Gymnastics is one of the best in so many ways.
I used to love watching Lee Ping (China) on the Rings. He was super fit, super strong and it was a Sport that offered no long term or permanent strain of damage on the body.

But of course - such 'proper' Sports don't offer the entertainment value of some guy sitting on his bum during a Paris to Dakar race and crashing to his death or some NRL player getting his jaw broken for the second time after the odd concussion or the pressure by Sponsorship to be #1 and push your body beyond the limits (over-heated engine) of a good longevity.

You're assuming that the human body was designed to
take constant huge changes in direction with
massive forces on the ankles, knees & hip.
It's not - simple as that.
That sort of "exercise" will leave you in a wheel chair -
it's completely idiotic.

its the young men in the game that are spoiling it for aussies.....

now its Nick Kyrgios turn  he lost as well and he slams Hewitt......on social media   then removes it..

I am over both these lads.... neither should be allowed to play for Australia ever again.....

they are both a disgrace to the sport..

People who play tennis for fun do not tend to give themselves debilitating injuries. If you want to go easy on your ankles, play on grasscourt.

Tennis is pretty far down the list of injury prone sports, after just about every contact sport.

Precisely.
Ive never mer met a life long panel beater that has healthy lungs? I did this trade when I left school. As soon as I finished my apprenticeship I swore never to go back.
There are thousands of jobs that ruin your body and in a lifetime you'd be lucky to make what a sport person makes in a year...or one game.
Very rarely does a tennis star die on court playing the game....yet hundreds die every year at work.

I know at least 3 people who have stuffed knees
from playing tennis.
Think about it -
a person weighing say 80 kgs is trying to
catch up to a ball travelling at 160 km/hr.

People who play tennis for fun do not tend to give themselves debilitating injuries. If you want to go easy on your ankles, play on grasscourt.

Tennis is pretty far down the list of injury prone sports, after just about every contact sport.

I know at least 3 people who have stuffed knees
from playing tennis.
Think about it -
a person weighing say 80 kgs is trying to
catch up to a ball travelling at 160 km/hr.

was it diagnosed as a tennis knee  bobby?

the cartilage in my right knee has gone... and it wasnt tennis for sure...so far it isnt giving me any trouble    but I know it will eventually......

I sure havent been running or twisting the most its used for is driving an auto car....lolol...

it is a bitch but some of of us fall apart   for no reason

Tennis is a bad game to play.
It relies on you being able to change direction very quickly.
That puts huge strain on your: ankles, knees & your hip.

So does having sex.

And just like tennis you have to deal with the pain, laugh it off and harden up for the next round (in this case 5 minutes)  Wink

Too many players end up with appalling injuries that
cause them a lifetime of suffering.

Don't encourage anyone to play tennis.

Oh harden up princess. Tennis is a great game.

Most sports will be hard on the body....that's the idea.

Hey remember  martina hingis? I always prefered her sister, Cunnel.
