Tesla commences building Chinese factory
Jan 8th, 2019 at 1:57pm

Tesla has missed the mark and it now spells the death knell for electric car manufacture in the USA.

The Chinese excel at industrial infrastructure and supply chains and will eat Tesla's breakfast, lunch, and dinner as they displace American infrastructure and supply chains.

The Chinese are attacking the market from the bottom up whereas the Americans have opted for marketing to the elite.

The Chinese Tesla factory will demonstrate that the US Tesla factories and supply chains are uncompetitive.

A cheap Chinese electric car for around US$ 8680.

This just exemplifies that the Chinese are much more competitive than other nations in the electric car business.

Great Wall Motor has developed an all-new electric car which is incredibly affordable and offers a decent range.

The small city car costs $8,680 (£7,000) after incentives and offers almost 200 miles of range on a single charge.

GWM says that the “subsidized price of the new model, ORA R1, ranges after incentives from 59,800 RMB to 77,800 RMB (USD 8,680 to USD 11,293, per the CNY/USD rate as of Dec. 25, 2018).”

Named ORA R1, the Chinese electric car is one of the most affordable electric cars to offers such a significant range.

Ning Shuyong, general manager of ORA and vice president of Great Wall Motor, said: "As a new market entrant, ORA R1 delivers an unprecedented experience to drivers.

“ORA replaces the traditional sales, service, spare parts and surveys (4S) dealership-centered model that is common in China with a network consisting of ORA Home, experience centers and smart outlets in the central business districts of Chinese cities.

“In addition, the big data cloud that is created as the result of the information collected from the ORA app, the ORA shopping site and the Tmall e-shop opens the way to the development of multiple scenarios for offline sales and services as well as new transportation services for both drivers and passengers."

Powering the car is a 33kWh battery pack with a range of up to 194-miles of range on a single charge.

Well red Baron, the scary thing is that they are actually making something.  Right now, we dont have the technology in Australia to even make those, so what does it make us?

No .. the technology is easy to get ... we don't have the infrastructure or a govt that supports Australian owned business.

Our Govt.s have effectively got rid of all our industry because everyone has gone & put all their eggs in the Chinese basket.

The Chinese are great copiers.

That car looks like the cheap Chinese toys that are imported here. The designers must work for a toy company ...... atrocious.

The answer is Australian ingenuity.

Australians could cleverly disguise factories as pubs and lure Australian workers into careers as factors of production.

Better yet they could lock you in a cellar re-corking old bottles of wine.

Or should that be "whine".  You could bring your own.

Be great once WW III kicks off.... the same trade issues that prevailed in the APR (Asian-Pacific Region) exist now - the West seems incapable of differentiating between open warfare and economic warfare ... I pity the ordinary Chinese.... a massive military is of no use stuck in your homeland....
