Would she have been sent to Manus if she got to Australia?

Depends if she came by plane or by boat.

We only lock up the ones coming by boat. 10's of thousands come in every year by plane and live happily in the community.

They send them home or kick them out as quickly as they can find them. But because they are hiding, it's  not always easy to locate them.

Hasn't changed since 1788.

your not worried about this girls situation then.. Angry

She is no safer in Australia, we have imported enough loonie Muslims to Australia.
Probably more likely to get killed here.

Australia should be a safe haven for people in Muslim countries who want to escape the yoke of Islam, not a place to get their Islam on with 1st world amenities.

Easy enough to have sympathy for the girl asSaudi Arabia is the bastion of Islamic conservatism, then we don't know the full story which needs to be checked first by the authorities.

No doubt if she was a white South African farmer's duaghter she would be in like flynn.  Cool

Great news and I knew eventually Id find something I agree with SHY

Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young echoed the sentiment, saying the young woman should be issued with emergency travel documents

Thailand isn't itself a signatory to the Refugee Convention," Professor McAdam said.

"But it is a signatory to a number of international human rights treaties that similarly require it not to send people to places where they are at risk of serious harm and human rights abuses.

"Australia shares that obligation, so certainly from a moral perspective it would be appropriate for Australia to urge Thailand not to violate that fundamental principle of international law."

its all very well placing the responsibility for this young person on Australia.... but it is in fact Thailands first responsibility...... they are the ones who have taken her passport and are trying to send her home......

I think thats wrong of them......dont make it all our job......the Thai govt needs to stand up and be counted... for a change..

She had a valid visa to Australia in the first place. I have no idea why Thailand let the Saudi interfere.

Someone should nuke Mecca.

Given a chance, the believers in detention, on Manus, would have probably firstly, gang raped her, and then beheaded her.

Why so ?

Because on the news report i heard this morning, it clearly said that, as she fled, this woman had [publicly/online?] renounced ISLAM.

HRW has said she's in danger and should come to Australia.
You think a female escaping for fear of her life is equal to a stardom fantasy?

They should deport her to Australia, given she has a visa...

Perhaps it was someone with a lot of money wanting her to return home for her punishment. We know they're sick bastards over there. Pay off the thai authorities. They're corrupt little mongers.
