Is it really surprising that people are saddened by the passing of a much loved national treasure as opposed to an unknown person who gave the world a pinner of children?

Both mine are still around.

My mum was a palliative care nurse for many years and still gets Christmas cards from the children of people she nursed 20 years ago. When she goes I imagine the ripple will be felt wider than my immediate family, but I don't expect to compare it to Billy, who brought joy to the lives of literally millions.

I wonder why Aussie wanted to compare his mum to a Scottish comedian?
Maybe she was famous for telling a clanger or two.
