Drones shut down Gatwick Airport -the new threat
Dec 22nd, 2018 at 8:08am

Drones illegally flown over Gatwick Airport shut the airport down in the busiest period of the year

Over 150 flights were cancelled and thousands of passengers affected

Why didn't the authorities see this one coming?

How hard is it to go buy a drone for a couple of hundred then use them to throw airports into chaos

Drones are going to be the new terrorists 'go to' tool

I predict that if authorities do not regulate strongly, the ownership of drones, this problem is going to escalate like hell

Even with regulation terrorists would still be able to get their claws on them

They are capable of delivering bomb payloads and are ridiculously cheap

The perfect weapon

2 People have been arrested for the 'Criminal use of drones'..which must be a new  one on that statute books

Given that it probably cost the airlines and the passengers hundreds of millions of dollars I think the miscreants can look forward to a long stay in the Big House

Maybe it was just trying to deliver a pizza and got lost.

A whole new level of security will be needed to combat this concern, ban the Drone.

Yes - what's to stop a drone from carrying a grenade?

Grenades are hard to come by.  I'd be more worried about them dropping a toxic substance into a crowded area.

I feel sorry for the poor buggars trying to get home...or anywhere.

Thanks to some brain dead morons, they are stuck at the airport.

I hope they get to apologize individually to each and every passenger they held up
paid for their tickets and were banned from ever owning anything ever again.

Dead shite C%^ts

But a grenade is light & would be easy for a drone to carry.

I see a whole new type of terrorism starting -
this is not good at all.

Drones will have to be registered and their pilots licensed after this attack.

ISIS has been using drones to drop explosives for quite some time, and the Israeli Defence Force have been using drones to drop tear gas on rioters on their borders also for some time.

Nothing new, just a different use of these drones, if Amazon can deliver a pair of trainers by drone, they can sure as hell be used to drop bombs.
