money is not the answer

our so called "underclass" live in luxury compared to a king 200 years ago.

to help them, we need to "lift their personal psychology" so they are extremely grateful, extremely positive and they are determined to contribute.

if we just tell them to take more, they will just become more addicted to taking and thats a catastrophe.

"taking" and "living in scarcity" and "just trying to cope" are mindsets which will screw you.

This is good stuff--you should go on a speaking tour on horseback.

Then cut the prices unemployed pay for all goods and services to what they would have been 200 years ago. Two cents for a loaf of bread, $400 to buy a house. Anything that wasn't available 200 years ago can be paid for at modern prices.

Australian society is devolving and regressing into a system of lords and serfs.

There are only so many toilet cleaning, bottle washing, and food serving jobs to go around.

Perhaps Australia is the first society to reach the level that there are just too many people to productively employ.

There's plenty of work. There just aren't any jobs.

Australian workers gift $130b to employers through unpaid overtime, finds report

If this $130,000,000,000 worth of unpaid overtime was converted into paid employment with each job paying $65,000 a year on average, it would create enough jobs for two million people.

Every worker is now expected to do the job of between 2 and 5 people -
I know that I do.

Workers have never been so exploited in Australia's history.

Is that measured by your screw ups?

Do you screw up so much it takes 2-5 people to fix the Bobby screw-ups?

If Bobby's lie about doing the work of 2 to 5 people were true generally in Australia, the productivity in Australia would be multiples of the productivity of other countries and no country could compete with Australia.

hay dumbie.

an unemployed person of today has better access to food , running water, clothing, health care and education then a member of the nobility from 200 years ago.
if you cant be grateful for that , you are just an entitled puke

This has to be one of the stupidest things you have ever said Aqua.

really?

care to tell us when edinburugh castle got running water?
how about king george, care to tell us about his death from "gout", how prince albert died of a chest infection , how queen anne got TB and perished , how many princesses died in childbirth.
.
food?...care to tell us about the obesity epidemic sweeping lower income australia.or is there some famine i am unaware of
and i'm sure they had free schools full of an amazing network of global information 200 years ago.
even though a blackboard and a piece of chalk was probably the zenith .
no air con, rooms choked with smoke, sewage in the street, no needles before they filled your teeth, beds full of bed bugs, streets where you might get randomly speared, milk full of tb, smallpox to scar you, no vaxinations, tetanus, cholera growing in the themes, std's running rampant, your penis dripping pus,

yep, we have it so bad nowdays

i totally support whiteknight and his "sad little story".
"me, me, me and my rough little life"

he needs to turn that  Sad  upside down  Smiley

so lets have a mass rally by whiteknight  holding up placards thanking all those noble capitalists that built this incredible society which everyone takes for granted  Wink

It's not going to happen in a capitalist society because lifting people up means the middle class has to do the lifting with their taxes.

I don't know anybody who would willingly pay more tax because 90% of the benefits from tax increases are always misdirected to the wealthy.

if i did i would be extremely grateful for the chopper that would take me to hospital (unlike dying in a ditch 200 years ago).
whilst in hospital i would take advantage of all the wonderful drugs invented by big pharmaceutical companies.
i would watch you tube clips to motivate me for my rehab.
i would come back even stronger and more grateful.

as i left the hospital i would look at fat steve and fat janeen with their diabetes, sitting in casualty all sad and sorrow for themselves   and i would have the wry smile of a guy who was back on the narrow road to success .

modern society is so freaking awesome

why do some folks live in the past   especially when it was a past they were never part of personally.. Angry

its ridiculous to compare how people lived 200 years ago...with 2018...... give us a break...

I think as a country we have progressed pretty well....if anyone expects us to not make any mistakes in the future... well they are in for a shock....but lets at least agree we dont keep making the same mistakes.....

which is the most important thing....

Just ask anyone who works for a big company:

Where there were 2 IT professionals there is now one.

Where there were 3 cleaners there is now one.

Where someone had an engineer and a secretary helping
them they now have to get by on their own.

When people resign they are not replaced and their
workload is offloaded on to whoever remains.

The list goes on.

In 1758 the Assizes set the price of bread. It cost about 2.5 pence for a 1lb 7oz loaf (680 gram). If we compound that at 3%, the rule of 72 states that there are about 10 doublings in price. That leads to 640 pence or about $6.40. Even at tuppence it works out to more than $5/loaf. Current price about $3.20.

Similarly houses are affected. Of course the average hosue back then was two bedroom.
