Dole bludging housos breaking the cycle

Want to live in a place like this for next to nothing? Public housing applicants will need to get a job before they can move into taxpayer-funded properties

Public housing tenants will need to get a job and maintain it before they can move into taxpayer-funded properties under a tough new welfare system.

The new program, which is set to be trialled by the New South Wales government in Punchbowl and Towradgi near Wollongong, is designed to stop residents languishing on welfare.

Under the tough new guidelines, those on the public housing waitlist - of which there are about 55,000 - will be able to skip the queue if they agree to get a job.

Social Housing Minister Pru Goward told The Daily Telegraph the new and improved program will 'help break the cycle of disadvantage'.

Housing tenancy leases will initially be drawn up for a six-moth period and reviewed periodically - with renewal being dependent on the tenant meeting specific goals.

Part of the commitment for tenants will include initially finding a job or enroilling in a course and maintaining it for a set period of time.

'This is about equipping tenants with the skills they need to not only obtain a job, but keep it over the longer term and achieve their full potential,' Ms Goward said.

The minister said she wants to set to a clear expectation that social housing is not for life and, for those who can work, it should serve as a stepping stone to the private rental market.

Less than a quarter of social housing tenants are employed so the overhaul is designed to not only help people find accommodation but also employment.

They can join the police force and get free donuts for life and a free house and then retire on generous social welfare like BaronVonRort.

You don't  have to get a job, bludgers, but if you do, you move up in the queue. That's  all it is.

Right-O - how many jobs will we put you down for?

When all else fails - and it is failing so clearly in NSW for the Libs, the Lib mind turns immediately to scapegoating ... I do hope the good people of Goulburn - who live in a high unemployment and seasonal employment region, see through this and boot the silly twat.

6% unemployed (acknowledged) .. well, well... I suppose the ethnic makeup of Punchbowl these days make it an easy target.. all those Musso multiple families with ten kids etc... Wollongong region?  15.3% .. well, well.. bunch of dole bludging parasites.. whip 'em and send in the dogs....

She's had her feed at the trough - time to go...lost touch with any reality she might once have approached...

Correct - there are about 200 applicants for every unskilled job.
It's no wonder we have so many unemployed and
crime is rife on the streets.

Message to Cambra - you can break the cycle of unemployment by finding real jobs for everyone and then only the losers and unemployable will be left at the bottom...

Pretty simple, eh?

Unemployment benefits is a Federal issue - what has it to do with the State and its duty to provide housing for those without much income or leave them to rot on the streets?

I smell a major sell-off of Punchbowl for high-rise and where was it.... oh, yes THE BEACHSIDE SUBURB OF TOWRADGI.

Yup - it's a sell-off coming.... after they put the inhabitants on the trains to Auschwitz.  Ream 'em out and force 'em out, then say it's non-viable now as public housing and could be put to better use.. and up go the high-rises built by Lib mates for a fortune after they buy the land for sixpence.

Christ these idiot Libs are so predictable..... criminals usually are.....

quite a lot of jobs actually.

crops rotting in the ground and a scheme that had places for 8000 workers only attracted 333 applicants.
they even got to keep their precious dole whilst they worked the farms for pay on top of the dole.

from your ABC

Influential lobby groups have declared a program to encourage welfare recipients to work on farms a failure, putting new pressure on the Morrison Government to create a dedicated agriculture visa to fix labour shortages in the rural sector.

The $27.5m Seasonal Work Incentives Trial has only found placements for 333 people with six months left to go on the two-year program, falling far short of its 7,600 possible places.

"It has been running for two years now and when you have a take-up rate of 4 to 5 per cent, that would suggest it won't improve dramatically, so I would have thought it was [a failure]," Ben Rogers, general manager for workplace relations at the National Farmers' Federation, said.

"It's been tracking low since the program was launched [in mid-2017] and it's consistent with the message we hear from our members — that the domestic seasonal workforce isn't interested in doing harvest work."

does WHAT have to be explained.

jobs for 8000 people where they got an hourly rate of pay AND kept the dole and its entitlements AND 333 apllicants in 2 years AND now we have to import workers from overseas to harvest the crops.

seems some people would rather whine on an internet forum then take up generously paid work.

does that include you spot ???
