Quote:
Over the last four years, Daniel Andrews has hidden the truth and lied at every turn.

He hid the truth and lied when he said cancelling the East West Link wouldn’t cost one dollar.

          It cost $1.3 billion.

He hid the truth and lied when he said he wouldn’t introduce any new taxes.

          He introduced 9 new taxes.

He hid the truth and lied when he said Labor would cooperate with the Police investigation into the Red Shirts Rorts.

His Labor MPs still refuse to be interviewed by the police.

He hid the truth and lied when it came to not increasing debt.

Now he’s going to double it to $63 billion.

Can you afford to let Daniel Andrews and Labor do it all over again for another 4 years?

THIS ELECTION

Dan Andrews said that his 100 Billion dollars + with of promises was fully funded and that there would be no new Taxes...

24 Hours out from the election he is now done a complete backflip and says that they are going on a borrowing spree of 25 Billion...

it will be more like 50 Billion + Sending Victoria into financial ruin leaving it to our children and grandchildren to pay off... and then some...

his ministers yesterday also would not rule out tax increases... so another lie by Andrews...

Andrews has vowed to keep pushing through the radical sexualisation of school children...

he's sick in the head...

but he's going to win the election today...

you get what you vote for...

and with early voting 50% of Victorians have already voted and cannot change their vote...

4 years of destruction coming right up...

Bit like anyone supporting Trump.

Funny to see Lib supporters complaining about corruption, a founding principle still driving the Liberal party and with the current economic vandals in power in federal politics at the moment.

Half the independants when examined turn out to be absolutely mad, some good ones but they tend to be the exceptions.

I am currently looking at them in my area as a preferred voting option but it does not look good.

The comment you call off topic was a direct response to the hypocrisy you displayed in the opening post.

Directly showing the 180 degree back flip between your position here compared to another situation.

Selective morality ?

Usually independents in your local area are well known throughout the community being in local councils etc...

Give the Local Bloke/Gal a go... you should already know their performance and past history...

We have a Local Gal for Liberals in our area... she’s pretty good... but she’s Liberal in a safe Liberal area.. .

And that’s the problem...

Hardly a cent gets spent in our electorate ... we need to wake up and make it a tossup seat... then watch the money flow in..

But i wont hold my breath... Liberal voters are just as stupid as Labor voters... they just vote for “THEIR” team... policy has nothing to do with it...

Actually to have people voting on policy based on merit is exactly what was intended in the senate.

Having it controlled by political parties where a representatives being able to place a vote on their conscience, their beliefs or the interest of their electorate is a very rare thing.

The senate is not meant to be a rubber stamp for the government and this only happens in the worst times with the worst governments. It passes all the worst policy.

A house of review that fails to revue and block the worst excesses just isn't doing it's job.

How exactly is that a backflip?
There will be no new taxes.
It was the previous Liberal governments lack of vision that got us in this infrastructure mess in the first place.
Borrowing money to build vital infrastructure makes good economic sense.
Victoria almost ground to a halt under the previous Liberal Government and Victorians arn't going to put up with that again.

Just back from voting.

Our local member was there handing out how-to-vote cards as it happened.

I voted below the line in the Upper House to deny that scumbag bloke from Derryn Hinch's party getting any money from the above the line deals that he brokers.  Cool

I voted below the line and made sure to number all the boxes so the grub Druery didn't get any benefit from my vote.

Parties near the bottom: the Nazi party Liberty Alliance, the fake Liberal Democrats, the fake Labour DLP, the lying anti vaxxer Health Australia and the misleading Battler Party. The common thread here - any party that is using their party name to mislead the voters about what they really stand for or who they really are goes to the bottom of my ballot paper.

That means I put the Liberals higher on my ballot than I usually do but I'm fine with this. The point is not to endorse the Liberals as such but to punish the preference harvesters.

I don't get why those who hate ALP insist on living in Victoria - unless ofc they recognise how well the economy, infrastructure, education is compared to the rest of the state, and all under the ALP.

Antony Green calls the election 75 minutes after the polls closed.

Current count: ALP 44, L/NP 16, Grn 2, Other 1, In Doubt 25.

Roughly 5% swing to Labor.

"This is looking like a blood bath". - Jill Hennessy, Labor Health Minister.

Yep - looks like the streets will be over run with African gangs.

That's what the voters want - they'll get it.

Aussie,
as a lawyer you of all people should realise that there is nothing without law and order.

Home invasions,
robberies,
car jackings,
street riots with blacks stripping white people naked and
taking all their valuables while the police watch & do nothing.

We're not gunna hang em high we're going to encourage lawlessness.

Provisional list of seats gained:

Bass - never held by Labor (4 elections).
Bayswater - last held by Labor in 2002.
Box Hill - last held by Labor in 1988.
Burwood - Jeff Kennett's old seat, lost by Labor in 2010.
Caulfield - never held by Labor (first contested in 1976).
Mt Waverley - marginal seat lost by Labor in 2010.
Nepean - never held by Labor (4 elections).
Northcote - Labor regaining seat from Greens.
Ringwood - Marginal Liberal seat.
Ripon - Marginal Liberal seat.
Sandringham - Safe Liberal seat, only won by Labor once, in 1982.
South Barwon - Marginal Liberal seat.

In doubt are some blue ribbon Liberal seats:
Brighton: Labor ahead, never held by Labor, first contested in 1976. 10.5% swing.
Hawthorn: Labor ahead, never held by Labor, first contested in 1976. 11.1% swing.

If any Federal factors are influencing this election result, the NSW Liberals would be walking around with white faces and clenched sphincters about now. They're next.

I told ya Bobby, it's entertainment for the Vic masses, and the masses need more so they voted for more. It must be pretty dreary in Melbourne when they're not having a few killings to satisfy the citizens, The ancient Romans thought the same way

https://www.heraldsun.com.au/blogs/andrew-bolt/10-more-examples-of-the-african-g...

I have heard so many people - including a Melbourne academic last week - claim that Melbourne's African gang violence is just a media myth.

Here are 13 examples of that "myth" - bashings, carjackings and home invasions - all reported in just the past eight days.

Something quite extraordinary has hit Melbourne, thanks to our refugee program.

(Note: I've had Nigerian and South Africans point out that the label "African gangs" is unfair on many Africans, given that most offenders are actually Sudanese or Somali.)

One:

POLICE are hunting for up to seven thugs who threatened a man with a gun during a terrifying daylight carjacking.

The gang, of African appearance, preyed on the victim as he sat parked in his gold Holden Commodore Sedan in Packenham’s central shopping district about 2.40pm on Friday.

Read about the other 12 attacks in the link above.

Quote:
Declan Martin — aged 19 — is barely old enough to vote, but this fresh-faced Labor candidate could be about to create electoral history.

Key points:

Declan Martin could win Brighton for Labor

The 19-year-old would be the youngest MP in Victorian history

He spent just $1,750 on his campaign, and ran for the seat because "no-one was willing to fill the gap"

You'll probably be surprised to hear I voted Libs, with Greens last. Didn't make much difference, the Labor candidate got in, although unlike some, I think he is actually a pretty decent politician.

But I'm sick of what Labor has been doing in Vic.

I thought the Liberals though need to turf their leader, they basically had no coherent campaign, the Guy is too low key, couldn't make an impact if he tried and he didn't seem to try.
Very disappointed as I think it should have been a winnable election for the Libs if they had their act together.

That's because you read the Daily Telegraph cods. the Murdoch Press is notorious for it's dislike of Daniel Andrews.

Most Victorians want improved infrastructure, and Daniel Andrews has a proven track record in that regard. On the other hand the previous Liberal Government did nothing.

well funny enough the DT doesnt say a lot about Vic it concentrates on NSW......so apart from reading ozpol I know very little about whats happening  however reading some who actually live in Vic  we or at least I get mixed messages.....one says the crime rate is out of control another says we have no crime in Vic....

The Liberals may retain a few of these seats. It appears that they were favoured more in early voting. We'll see how the count progresses.

Andrews and Labor ran a positive campaign with a vision for the future and a good record. Victorians responded well to that. The Liberals didn't run a positive campaign and they paid the price.

The Liberal party has serious problems. I hate to say this, but it's not over yet. The NSW state election is in four months and the Federal election is due next year. Both could get ugly, especially the Federal election.

Another note about this election win. It could have been significantly bigger. An electoral redistribution is due in Victoria and some outer suburban seats are massively over quota. Yan Yean, Bass. The over-quota seats tend to be outer suburban safe Labor seats, the under-quota seats tend to be inner-suburban or rural safe Coalition seats. When the redistribution occurs Labor would gain a couple of notional seats just on the redistribution.

Average enrolment per district: 47038

Altona - 55418 (17.8% over quota)
Bass - 58325 (24.0% over quota)
Tarneit - 53882 (14.5% over quota)
Yan Yean - 58159 (23.6% over quota)

There are enough electors over quota in the Western Metropolitan region equivalent to one additional seat.

We didn't have a lot of choice in the Narre Warren North electorate. It was Lib/Lab/Greens/Transport Matters or Labour DLP.

I'd guess a big reason why Melbourne people voted Labor is the railway crossings. The work has been highly visible & it has made an absolutely massive difference to traffic. Unless you live in the outer suburbs, you don't appreciate how dire the traffic situation really is. Often 1-2 hours to travel a handful of kms at peak times.

But on everything else, Labor has been a fail.

What has surprised me is how easily Labor won. That's not good for this state.
It says a lot about how pathetic the opposition really was.

Andrews said that he was going to get rid of the Rail Crossings and thats what he's been doing (whether you like it or not)

but like you say sherri - it does matter to a lot of those Suburbs which he won...

remember Ted Baillieu - Good guy but could not make a decision if his life depended on it.. so he sat on his hands and did nothing... by the time that they replaced him, the damage was done...

NSW election Next March... the Liberals will be very nervous...

then Federal election in May...

Liberals Primary vote is way down at the moment...

All the Labs have to do is to continue to keep hiding Shorten out of the Public eye like they have been doing for the past 18 months...

I love how some of the railway crossings are going. That's a positive. Libs should have been out there, vowing to continue it PLUS.
A few simple messages about what they would do with transport, crime etc and the election would have been closer.

Fed politicians need to learn the lesson-clear focus on a few issues that matter.

I live in the same electorate as you Sherri ...
The widening of the Monash has been a good move, although it can be argued that it merely shifts the bottle-neck further out each time they do it ... but better trains, level crossing removals, new train stations, larger train station car-parks, school upgrades, more police, more nurses, better ambulance times ... these things really do pay off.

The Libs were hopelessly negative and Mathew Guy is / was just a joke.

The 2025 election could be a shocker.
