How do I display my  rego?

The same way they do it in Japan?

And how much do they pay?

How is that relevant?

Humour me.

A one off fee equivalent to about $6 Australian (I think).

How will cops know whos registered vs whos not.

Remember that sticker I posted before?

Given how small it is, how do you expect a cop travelling at 80 km/h to specifically look

I don't.

You asked me how you would display your rego.

I showed you how they do it in Japan (and many other places).

The idea of a Bicycle 'rego' is to show that the Cyclist understand the rules and regulations of the road safety and has a right of opinion as well.
The Rego would not be picked up by Cops doing 40km - 100kms. But it would stop a cyclist probably copping a bigger fine if they did find themselves in a... predicament.

So the 'tired' argument is justified.
You want to express your rights on the road? Then bloody well pay for it like the rest or just shut up and take it as it comes.

I've driven Taxi for better part of a year.
I've got to drive efficiently and as quick as I can - legally.
Of course, the two regional areas where I drove, have high density tourists for various periods of the year.
So, like Valkie says - most Drivers only concentrate on 'immediate' dangers like other vehicles that can have an impact on their safety.

But as Taxi, I've learned the 'chaos' of both J-Walkers and Cyclists. Both are  lazy and inconsiderate. Both DO NOT abide by 'motorist' rules on the road. I've had to drive like a super reflex with every corner I come around, every decision - I've got to prepare for a possible accident because that's what its like. All the while, while taking in-calls for a Taxi and writing on a pad. The mental concentration is pretty full-on and I really have to be 'jumpy' to stay focused.
J-Walkers will walk across a street where it bends around as a blind spot.
Cyclists WILL ride together - side-by-side whenever they can. Cyclists will put their turning arm out, at the last 5 seconds before they turn.

I can only say this regarding J-Walkers & Cyclists: They need to be more considerate, need to put their EGO back in check because they DO NOT have a priority over motorists or a Equality with motorists. They are on the road by 'privilege' only.

The Professional or Competing Cyclist is the worst rider, next to city couriers. They feel that they have 'rights' over motorists.

Using a well planned city like Canberra is not a good example of how well Cyclists & Motorists get on.
Try Melb or Syd or Regional areas during Holidays.

Of course, most Cyclists are just DILLIGAFS and consider themselves 'superior' because they are riding 'environmentally friendly' forms of transports and thus they are now endowed with a 'God Given Right' to do what they like.

Now you might think I hate Cyclists?
No. I understand that Bicycles were a part of Australian history and culture long before the French kicked on with the Tour De France and were used by more Australians than those silly brumbies that the Media pumps out for the drizabone/Man from Snowy River wank culture of being Australian.  Roll Eyes

Cycling on Roads is a privilege, not a right.

Well, there's a movement afoot to soften helmet laws Australia wide, especially in Victoria, so expect to see more riders, but without head gear in the not to distant future.

Mandatory helmet laws continue to divide cyclists, survey finds

Quote:
Almost 60 per cent of cyclists believe they should be able to ride without a helmet if they want to, according to a new survey, but a crash survivor says he would be dead if he was not wearing one when he came off.

The online survey, run by the Bicycle Network, Australia's largest bike-riding organisation also found that if current mandatory helmet laws changed to allow Australians to ride a bike without one, more than 30 per cent of people would ride a bike more often.

It revealed:

42 per cent believed bicycle helmets should be mandatory at all times and in all scenarios
58.3 per cent want a change to helmet laws
41 per cent believe helmets should only be mandatory when they assessed the risk to be high
30.4 per cent would ride more if helmets were not mandatory

Bicycle Network chief executive Craig Richards said the results of the survey, which was completed by nearly 20,000 people, would help the organisation evaluate its position on helmets.

The group recently declared it was open to reviewing its support of mandatory helmet use.

"It's great to see such a large amount of public opinion about bike helmets," Mr Richards said.
Helmets 'a no-brainer'

ABC newsreader Peter Gee says his bike helmet saved him from life-changing injury.

"It's something people are clearly passionate about and it's helpful to see how Australia's helmet laws may impact people's decision to ride.

"The opinion of our members and people who ride bikes is important and will help inform our policy on Australia's mandatory helmet law.

"Along with academic research and information from experts, we will be able to make fully informed decisions."

Among the reasons given to relax the law is the belief that riding a bike is not necessarily a high-risk activity, that the mandatory law has had a negative effect on participation, that fines for non-compliance are a further disincentive and a questioning of the pro-helmet safety evidence.

Just shows that Cyclists don't like being governed by 'Rules', like everyone else.

Shows Cyclists think they are better than everyone else because they are not emitting pollution and are getting fitter than everyone else.

Soon we will be having 'Outlaw' Cyclist Gangs wearing Black and having their Club logos on their backs.
Soon they will be carrying illegal weapons to threaten people with as well.
Soon they will be Ganging up on innocent Public people, because they haven't the balls to take on Police or Military directly.

As long as they stop wearing that lycra outfit then anything is a winner.  Grin

It also shows that cyclists have nothing in the head worth protecting.
