Australia has been extremely lucky that certain infectious (and childhood) diseases have been all but eradicated.

Other countries still get the occasional outbreak of contagious diseases. Including the UK and USA.

Um, Australians speak Australian, not English ... Go on holiday where there are many speakers of the International Language and guess which nationality the rest keep asking to repeat themselves? Look at the context.  Jasin was saying 'all 14 of them onto the doll".  Which is directly in reply to your opening post, talking about taking out the calculator implying that most of those immigrants goes straight to the dole.   Buzz said its not true, which he is right, because by far most immigrants to Australia currently is via skills or family program, which all have waiting periods.

Then, you tried to quote from government website (which happen to confirms that Buzz is saying).  Which relates to exceptions to the waiting period rules, which includes people and their relatives on humatarian grounds.  Which in effect, implies that you still think most of the 500 or so immigrants are potential welfare grabbers, which is not true at all.
