And what were you all doing on Rembrance Day?  Mmmm?   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

In peace?

I remember my pop drinking and smoking his life away because of the war. No proper help from the assholes that sent him to New Guinea. It destroyed people and the way I see it today's ceremonies give it a herioc edge . I don't like it. If people were told the truth they wouldn't go. It's a sickening stain and a crime on humanity. But if it makes you feel better about yourself then all power to you Bwian.

So, your Dad served in New Guinea did he?

And he survived?

Oh, well, I suppose someone has to be a REMF...    Roll Eyes

My grandfather. Not many of his mates survived he once told me.

My apologies.   So, your Grandfather served New Guinea, did he?

And he survived?

Oh, well, I suppose someone has to be a REMF...

Better?

Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Actually the vast majority of those who serve in war don't do combat, what's your point?

The message on this 100th anniversary is - assimilate or F Vck off.

The West has not gone through cataclysmic struggles to surrender and hand it all over to alien fVckers on welfare with jihad on the brain.

The message is that 100 years ago a massive, destructive, horrible, mechanised war ended.  The guns fell (largely) silent.   The Danes had not taken part.  So, Soren, why aren't you willing to assimilate to Australian society and observe that the reason why we fought in WWI was to defeat totalitarian militarism of the kind you appear to favour so much?   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I am unsure why you are here, at all, Soren.   I know I am very proud to be a modern, cosmopolitan, Multicultural Australian.  You?  No idea.  Sure you wouldn't be happier in reactionary Europe?   Mmmm, you know where they loaded all those nasty Jews into cattle trucks and sent them east, never to return?   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I always thought a line from a different Kipling poem should represent our fallen heroes.

How about this.

At the setting of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them. You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din!
