Milktrees,

Ignore Tweedledum the Village Idiot because she is just an unwelcome troll with an impaired child's mind in an adult body and she gets very jealous of anyone who is normal and able to contribute useful interesting material.

She is nutty as a fruit cake and hates to see any REAL USEFUL material found and presented as her disabled "mind" cannot understand such things as the menu at MacDonalds is about the limit of her ability to understand.

Her child's mind is full of rot and rubbish from Greeny web sites. She becomes very agitated when anyone shows her wonky views are just garbage and then attacks them - classic Greeny type.

Overheating by Global Warming has disabled her already tragic "mind".

Now escaping from the boring sickness of the Greeny "mind" to something actually interesting.

Surface of the moon

That's The Real Reason We Never Went Back To The Moon
Oct 06 2016 posted to Aliens & UFOs

...

NASA’s Expedition to the surface of the Moon in 1968 was seen as the most extraordinary scientific development of all time. The technology that NASA and other space organisations across the world now have at their disposal completely eclipses the technology used in the Apollo missions by a considerable margin. This has led some people to question why NASA or other agencies have not returned to the Moon for such a long time.

Former astronauts speak out on why NASA has not returned to the Moon
While the official explanation is that scientists, engineers, and astronauts are currently working full tilt on the next stage of space exploration, an intended visit to the Mars, many people believe that the full potential of the Moon has not yet been properly examined. There is still so much that scientists do not know about our mysterious natural satellite. In addition to that, there is a great deal of untapped potential contained on the Moon. It could be used to establish Earth’s very first space colony and the structure of the Moon is comprised of a number of valuable materials which could be mined and put to use here on Earth.

VIDEO: Why NASA never went back to the moon

Some have speculated that NASA is wary of returning to the surface of the Moon for some reason. Others believe that the reason for NASA’s timidity in exploring the lunar surface is clear; it is inhabited by aliens.

These theories have been given some degree of credibility by former astronauts who have travelled to the Moon. For instance, Dr Edgar Mitchell, an astronaut who walked on the surface of the Moon during the Apollo 14 mission has said; “After traveling in space, I am fully confident that the aliens are watching us. I do not know how many, where and how they do it, but watching us. We see these ships at all times.”

Another incredibly famous astronaut, Edwin Eugene Aldrin, Jr, aka ‘Buzz’ Aldrin, the second man to traverse the lunar surface has also suggested that there could be life on the Moon. Aldrin had said when he was on the Apollo 11 mission he saw a moving light alongside their space shuttle on the surface of the Moon. He said that there was no adequate explanation for this phenomenon and he thought it could be suitably described as an unidentified flying object.

All of this begs the question – why would the presence of alien life keep NASA away from the surface of the Moon? Is it perhaps that they have been threatening with infringing too closely on alien territory? Or is it the case that they are secretly investigating the alien activity on the surface of the Moon and keeping it a secret from the general public?

NASA’s Return to the Moon Could Include a Reusable Lunar Lander. A reusable lander could make the proposed lunar station a more promising idea.
By Anatoly Zak Oct 24, 2018

...
GETTY IMAGESTIME LIFE PICTURES

Somewhere inside America’s sprawling space apparatus, a newly assembled team of NASA engineers has begun designing a spacecraft to return astronauts to the surface of the Moon. It would be humanity’s first visit since the glory days of the 1960s.

The Lander Study Group, as it’s called inside NASA, put its very first ideas on paper within the past few weeks—that's according to a NASA presentation seen by Popular Mechanics. What’s most exciting about this nascent work is that the new lunar lander won’t be a one-and-done like that of Apollo 11. This 21st century lander will make a round trip.

Introducing the Reusable Lunar Lander

...
A mock-up illustration of the reusable lunar lander. ANATOLY ZAK

In this presentation, NASA’s engineering team declared its intention to design a reusable crew cabin for the lander that comes with its own propulsion system. This part of the ship is called the ascent stage, and it’s responsible for the return of the crew from the surface of the Moon back to the lunar orbit. (The descent stage is focused on getting astronauts to the Moon safely, and as with the Apollo program, this stage would be left behind).

WITH A REUSABLE LANDER, THE LUNAR GATEWAY SUDDENLY COULD BE MUCH MORE MULTI-DIMENSIONAL TO SCIENTISTS, ENGINEERS, AND SPACE NERDS ALIKE.

What makes the idea of a reusable lander possible is the fact that NASA and its international partners are already designing a small station for lunar orbit to be visited by crews at least once a year beginning in the mid-2020s. The idea is that the lunar lander would dock with this so-called Lunar Gateway and remain there while waiting for a fresh crew to arrive from Earth aboard NASA’s Orion spacecraft.

With a reusable lander, the Lunar Gateway suddenly could be much more multi-dimensional to scientists, engineers, and space nerds alike. Instead of simply working onboard the Gateway in the emptiness of space, a part of the Orion’s crew can board the lander and make a sortie onto the lunar surface.

Between Man and the Moon

...

While the idea for a reusable lander makes logistical sense, some serious technical challenges stand in the way. For one, the Gateway will rest in a giant egg-shaped lunar orbit that, while good for some cases, is not the most convenient location for reaching the lunar surface in terms of gas mileage. That’s why the NASA team allocated a whopping 45 tons for the entire lander system, which is almost twice the Orion’s mass.

The design team is also considering splitting the lander into three 15-ton segments: the crew cabin with the ascent engine, the descent stage, and the space tug. The space tug would do most of heavy lifting, pushing the lander away from its Gateway harbor toward the lowest possible lunar orbit, where the descent stage would then take over braking maneuvers.

As a result, the expendable descent stage, which would arrive with each new Orion crew (as well as propellant for the ascent engine), could have a minimum size, while the space tug could be used for multiple ferry trips. Both potentially reusable components of the lander—the ascent stage and the space tug—could be refueled in the lunar orbit from a 22-ton tanker sent from Earth.

Return to the Moon, Take Two

...
Illustration of Altair lander NASA

This reusable spacecraft is not the first lunar lander proposed since Apollo 11, the last crewed mission to the moon, returned in 1972. In the early 2000s, NASA drafted the impressive Altair lander for the Constellation program, President George W. Bush’s vision for returning to the moon and then going to Mars. NASA abandoned Altair when the project ran into financial and political problems. The Orion spacecraft was the main survivor from the now-cancelled Constellation program, but without the lander, the four-seat capsule could only orbit the Moon.

In the intervening years, various aerospace contractors in U.S., Europe, and Russia tinkered with various lander designs, mostly at their own expense and without government approval. The latest example was the lander proposal from the Lockheed Martin revealed earlier this month.

What’s different about this study, though, is its NASA endorsement, and that its design is initiated within a framework of a wider multinational effort. While it’s still uncertain who will foot the bill for humanity’s return trip to the Moon, several space agencies expressed optimism about their governments’ financial support.

The only real future of the moon is to become 'this'.

But don't expect the now failing nation of Russia to help.
It's gonna be invaded by China pretty soon (a far safer bet than taking on the USA  Wink)

What would actual living on the Moon be like ?

Living on the Moon: What It Would Be Like (Infographic)

Life on the moon would be very different for explorers than life on Earth. From its lighter gravity to lack of air, the moon is a harsh mistress, just like the late sci-fi author Robert Heinlein claimed.

Full Story: What Would It Be Like to Live on the Moon?
  https://www.space.com/28494-how-to-live-on-the-moon.html

The moon has no atmosphere, no weather and no oceans of water. Its surface is in a perpetual vacuum. Pairs of astronauts have lived on its surface only up to three days at a time, in the tiny Lunar Module of the Apollo program.

Only 12 humans (the crews of Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17) have ever walked on the moon's surface. Because the moon's gravity is only one-sixth that of the Earth's gravity, Apollo astronauts had to tread carefully or else risk stumbling or falling. They ultimately perfected a bouncing gait and bunny hops to walk along the lunar surface.

One of the best places to set up a moon base turns out to be the lunar south pole, which has an enormous reserve of water ice and a relatively stable surface temperature around 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 Celsius).

Because it lacks an atmosphere, the moon undergoes tremendous daily swings in surface temperature, from a daytime average of 253 degrees F (123 C) to minus 387 F (minus 233 C) at night.

The Chows are looking to take over the Moon.

Chang’e-4 lunar probe to land on dark side of the moon
By Spatial Source on 11 December, 2018

...
The Chang’e-4 lunar probe mission, named after the moon goddess in Chinese mythology, launched on a Long March 3B rocket from the southwestern Xichang launch centre. Image: Phys.org.

China has launched a rover destined for the dark side of the moon, which will be a world-first if successful.

The rover was launched on a Long March 3B vehicle from the southwestern Xichang launch centre at around 2:23 am Saturday morning local time, or 5:23 am Sunday  AEDT.

Chang’e-4 is the most recent mission in the Chinese lunar exploration program, following Chang’e-1 and Chang’e-2 reaching lunar orbit in 2007 and 2010, and Chang’e-3’s successful landing and exploration in 2013.

The rover’s successful launch follows the May 2018 launch of the Queqiao (‘Magpie Bridge’) communications satellite into lunar orbit for relaying data and communications between Earth and the moon’s far side, as there is no ‘line of sight’ for direct communications.

According to state media, Chang’e-4 is being sent to the Aitken Basin region in the mountainous lunar south pole region, with the relatively smooth Von Kármán crater as the planned landing site.

...
Artist’s rendering of the Chang’e-4 lander, released on Aug. 15, 2018. Image provided by CASC.

The mission is one of a series of lofty ambitions for China’s military-led space program, including a super-heavy lift vehicle of greater payload capacity than SpaceX and NASA’s, a reusable launch vehicle by 2021, a Mars rover, a permanently crewed space station and a moon base.

The lander will carry a German-developed radiation instrument, the Lunar Lander Neutrons and Dosimetry (LND), landing and terrain cameras, and a Low Frequency Spectrometer (LFS), as well as a biosphere experiment to test respiration and photosynthesis on the lunar surface.

Like its predecessor, this rover will also carry a lunar penetrating radar, capable of penetrating 500 metres below the surface of the thicker, older crust of the moon’s far side, A Visible and Near-Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (VNIS) and Advanced Small Analyzer for Neutrals (ASAN).

Chang’e-5’s launch is currently planned for next year, and that lunar lander will collect samples to bring back to Earth.
