I watched True History of the Kelly Gang on the long weekend (on Stan).

Quite an unusual movie in some ways.

Sort of a British punk version of the Ned Kelly story   Undecided

Russel Crowe's in it, as well as Charlie Hunnam (from Sons of Anarchy).

I really tried to like it but just felt it was trying way too hard to be edgy.

It felt forced; contrived.

I didn't switch it off, so that's something but i was not impressed.

Yeah, I almost switched it off.

Well, I did, but I watched the second half the next day.

It was just okaaay.

Best part was the constable song.

Yeah the constable song was great. Reminded me of a friend of mine who always placed strong emphasis on the first syllable of that word.

The acting was good though. I'll give it that. The boy who played a young Ned was extraordinary.

Watched Jojo Rabbit tonight.

A very weird movie, but oddly compelling.  Shocked

Err ... I may have (or not) - nobody saw me do it - you can't prove a thing -  seen it via a file download.  Wink

p.s.

VPN works very well ... I use Surfshark myself.  Cool

Star Wars The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. Are these movies the abomination of the entire franchise? I can understand that no one finds the recent sequel or prequel trilogy movies to be close to surpassing the original trilogy. But, were these two episodes (ep 1 & 2) just a cash grab with no thought of consideration as to why the original trilogy was great?

Aside from the forgivable underaged actor for the series Jake Lloyd, the remainder of the Phantom Menace seemed to be about actors phoning in their performances. Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor's lightsaber duel with Darth Maul seemed to be the only highlight of the movie. George Lucas treated the rest of the movie with a seeming contempt for the teenaged and early adult audience that he likely thought would watch the movie.

Attack of the Clones was only slightly better with the darker tone of the movie. But, it became an embarrassment for Australian studio production to have the near entirety of the movie filmed in front of a green screen. Hayden Christiansen's wooden acting could probably outrank Natalie Portman's terrible acting. Neither of the actors seemed like they wanted to be doing the movie. Had I the power, neither actor would have their roles in the movie.

Revenge of the Sith was the only prequel movie that actually looked like it belonged as a Star Wars movie.

I have only recently completed my Star Wars movie collection. I tried to watch both Ep.1 and 2 prequel movies. However, I was forcing myself to watch these. I plan on watching Revenge of the Sith and Solo: A Star Wars story tomorrow night.

Although the recent sequel trilogy of Star Wars has looked visually stunning, it seems that creating a good science fantasy movie seems too difficult for modern movie makers.

Watched 1917 the other night.

A very "simple" plot but really very well done.  Cool

I was holding my breath for a good part of the movie.

Gruesome subject but not overly gruesome like something Mel Gibson would have done.

In the shadow of the moon. Netflix.

Has a bit of time travel in the mix of this slow to take off movie, but then creates a curiosa as it goes along with a real twist at the end!
