When I turned 22, I started drinking alcohol weekly. At one point, I was drinking twice a week. I only cut down my drinking as a result of not having the money to continue. But the rate of drinking was fairly consistent to once a week. Over time, I got the symptoms of a bad liver. It took to going sober for a long time before I got over the symptoms of liver problems. I figure that the lack of proper sleep was a result of my liver regenerating. I was soon able to have a decent digestion process. I lost weight. I was also able to have more energy. In recent months, my body has been able to repair itself, with the help of diabetic medication, etc. Better eating and little alcohol intake has lead to few problems.

The liver can repair itself given time. Even the most alcoholic of people should have a very much improved liver if they go a year without alcohol.

Yes if the problems are caused by alcohol. If its another cause not so much

Tell me cods is his back itchy all the time?

I doubt any alcoholic could go without having liver problems.

thanks every one for your comments   everything helps...unfortunately spot  my son in law doesnt like me, so to all intents and purpose  I do not know of this latest health scare....I try to engage with him but hes abrupt  and if watching TV  [most of the time if I go there.. which is rare].. he doesnt take his eyes off the TV,and has the remote poised..as if to say I am busy do not disturb.... iots hard on my daughter who I adore.. so my concern is for her.. I dont wan t her to be a widow...sadly the pair of them are pretty dumb... they dont ask the doctor the right questions  in fact I dont think they asked any....I asked about diet  does he need to avoid certain things.. and she doesnt know..I cant do much but I can pass on what I find out .I will ask about his back.. is that a bad sign spot?>>..

I am sure if it was cancer the doctor would have said straight up   as they do these days.....so thats one good thing.. however   it would be alcohol damaged thats for sure.... as he has always plays a lot of golf and they travel quite a bit.... although he is usually sick with something by the time they return.... Roll Eyes

I am surprised the doctor didnt give them anything to read on the subject....

Most GPs dont know anything about liver problems (guessits not taught in GP school) and will tell him to "eat normally" whatever the heck that means. A specialist would give more information but if his back is itchy its the main sign of PBC. If its not PBC or hepatitis then he can prolly fix it or at least stop it getting worse by lifestyle changes. Like i said PBC is the really bad one not even caused by alcohol. I doubt thats his problem though from what you have said.

My father used to tell doctors that he "has a glass of wine with dinner every day". What he actually had was a bottle of scotch, 2 bottles of wine, and several beers every day. He even had a seizure in hospital when he didnt drink for a day. Just a non-liver related heads up.

well I have another problem  same person..

I have been having Prolia injections for a long time now..to my knowledge with no side effects..

however daughter is now telling me her husband  the one I have already mentioned  had a Prolia injection just before Xmas Day  she says hes been complaining of everything  but cant put a finger on any one thing.......so she in her wisdom googled Prolia  and has now decided everything they claim could be a side effect ....  he has... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I too googled it  and there basically is not a thing left that you couldnt blame on Prolia ....take a look its scary.. it doesnt say spider bites  but its about the only thing not listed.....

I know a few people who get these injections and never heard of anything like this.....

I cant help thinking he does have seriously something wrong   it aint Prolia thats for sure.....but I cant get her to get him to see another doctor....

has anyone heard of Prolia being a health problem....

I mean these injection go for 6 months.... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
