UK terror cop: High level terror threat is “new normal,” Muslims turn to jihad because they “feel disenfranchised”
Basu’s warning here that jihadis who have been prevented from going to Syria may mount jihad attacks at home is blazingly obvious;
I’ve been pointing it out for years.
The real news here is buried far down in the Independent’s report:
“Counterterror police ‘priority’ investigations have increased by almost a third in 18 months and Mr Basu said the rising danger had stabilised ‘to become the new UK normal.'”
In other words, get used to jihad terror, it isn’t going away.
Basu also said of jihad terrorists that “many come from a generation who feel disenfranchised – often those from isolated minority communities in the UK.”
This is the standard view of the counter-terror establishment,
that jihad comes from poverty and lack of opportunity, so that if we shower Muslim communities with cash, all will be well and the jihad will fade away.
