Plus with all the bible quotes, irrelevant.
"Plus with all the bible quotes, irrelevant."
ARGUMENT;Bible quotes, aren't automatically irrelevant, to any public [political] discussion being held today.
Not in Australia, and not in any other Western nation today.
ARGUMENT;Only an intellectually ignorant [
or dishonest] person would claim that those life-lessons or precepts found within 'bible quotes' are automatically irrelevant to any public discourse, in Australia, today.
ARGUMENT;The bible,
and the ideas and the precepts the bible contains, have informed every Western culture for the past 2 millennia.
The only persons who could 'legitimately' have a 'good reason' [i.e.
motive] to seek to negate any societal influences which are promoted and which can be found in scripture,
are those persons who,
for their own ideological reasons, want to disparage all ideas and all precepts which the bible speaks of.
And people with such opinions, are most often found today,
within the political LEFTIST/political 'PROGRESSIVE' camp.
And many persons who have such political affiliations [political LEFTIST/political 'PROGRESSIVE' camp], 'we find',
are also 'shirt-lifters' and 'chocolate-miners', and those who suffer from the affliction of Penis-PHOBIA [aka lesbianism].
And of course, none of those persons who are members of, or are associated with, those previously mentioned groups
would have any affection for the bible, nor, for any of the ideas and precepts which the bible speaks of.
Why so ?
Because the ideas and precepts which can be found in the bible,
roundly condemns their 'worldview' and condemns, all of the values which promote and inform such a 'worldview'.
Leviticus 18:22
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Romans 1:26
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Romans 1:29
Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Such persons today, [
as is their right, in law] dismiss God, because God first dismissed them, and all of their reprobate choices.
.
In very many ways, what is found within scripture has informed our present culture, and even, sometimes our present popular culture.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Psalms 137:1
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
2 We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
3 For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
4 How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a strange land?
