MDMA makes octopuses hug

Well derr

They were really interested in touching; instead of reaching out with one arm, they'd reach out with six to handle the flowerpot, and they looked more relaxed in their posture," Dr Dolen said.

Eccy's for the Occy's.

Mind you, in Jervis (Jarvis) Bay - there are two Octopus 'societies' (Octlantis, Octopolis) where the Occy's actually congregate together in numbers. Apparently this is the only yet known spot in the world, where they do this.
I've dived these 'secret' (in da loop  Wink) spots and watching the Occy's 'socialise' with one another is quite fascinating.
They obviously don't need 'drug inducements' to do so.

But lets face it. Using 'Eccy' to stimulate such behaviour is like tricking the Occy's into 'pretend' mode.
It's like tricking someone into buying something that they don't actually need or want. The 'interest' comes back on the credit card eventually.

There is nothing about the 'withdrawal' effect of the Eccy on the Occys? Did they try to crawl out of the container away from one another in sheer paranoia after the Eccy effects wore off?  Grin

Or when they wake up with a female who looks like a bit of a cuttlefish and the eccy had worn off, how do they feel doing the 'scuttle of shame ' to get out of dodge?

I remember a chick who had some Eccy-induced guy trying to go her the entire night. She said it was like being attacked by a Face-Hugger (Alien fame).

It was a mistake to shut down research on psychedelics decades ago ...

There is a "church" is Orlando, Florida that provides the Ayahuasca ceremony to its "members." I have a friend who went down there and partook. He is encouraging me to go and do it. Not sure my wife would be interested in going because I hear that sickness is part of the ceremony ...

Like cutting the eyes of female prawns so they'll breed?
