Quotas
Sep 18th, 2018 at 10:35pm

So the the Liberal government are fine with having a quota of Nationals in the ministry.
So why are they so against a quota of women MPs?

This smells like hypocrisy. Even the Liberal propaganda media outlet; the Australian (behind a paywall) agrees
Conservatives show hypocrisy on quotas

It is a pity for you that Peter van Onselen is not of the right. Wink

BTW - labor's quotas have given them a series of nodding heads; not quality. But hey quotas are apparently good. Just more parliamentary density.

I can never agree with quotas in politics for one simple reason - it is the right of the people to decide who they want to represent them - not to be faced with a choice of either one or the other of the same kind.

This is NOT our form of democracy.

I have no problem with women in politics etc - but I have a problem when they or any other group - are forced on us by diktat of the Central Party and NOT the people.

There is NO valid reason for any quotas if those included in those quotas are already good enough - that they must be forced on us by quota shows they are not good enough.

I doubt they are "fine" with a quota of Nationals. Barnaby doesn't exactly help them. That's just the price of coalition government. I expect they would prefer the positions are merit-based.

me too.....

its tokenism

what next a quota of aboriginals just to shut them down..

somehow it makes the left look like they are making women equals... guess what?

WE ARE...

but if you are going to win selection   on ONE MERIT ONLY .........  GENDER...

thats not equality   thats patronising...and groveling females think they have won.... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

like I have already said.... who would chose a brain surgeon because they happened to be a female?????

women need to toughen up....

politics is a tough place....Bishop looks very much to me  as if she could take on the best of them.... they dont get a free ride on the world stage...

equality of opportunity is something we all agree with
equality of outcome is when you know you have gone too far.

how can we tell when the left have gone too far?
its easy with the right
as soon as someone starts saying that their is a racial supremecy, then they have gone too far.
we are all humans after all.

but with the left, they dont seem to have been able to draw a line which you should not cross.
that line would seem to be "equality of outcome".
its just a very very bad idea.
yes, everyone should have a level playing field to start from.
we have that
we have very good education systems and health care for the people who are at the bottom of the hierachy
but after that, we have to let people "have at it".
you still have to climb and to artificially elevate certain group is to play identity politics and you are ALWAYS more important as an individual then as the member of some group.
identity politics is just a very very bad idea.
we are individuals and we should be treated as individuals

Women quotas is being pushed by the extremist feminazis running the Greenies as they think Australia is being run by white men.

ScoMo simply said "I pick the BEST candidate for the job".

That's what affirmative action is all about....

Yes becuase lets look at the quality in the libs from no quotas. I'm not saying quotas are the answer, but clearly basing it on merit as the Libs are doing, doesnt seem to be working.
