‘He’s useless’: Tony Abbott survives Liberal rebels’ preselection coup
John Elder 6:51pm, Sep 15, 2018 Updated: 11:54am, Sep 16

...
Tony Abbott Who's ready to party? Anybody? Photo: AAP

Tony Abbott has survived an attempted ‘coup’ that would have seen him lose pre-selection in his seat of Warringah, a Sydney northern beaches electorate that in recent years has proved to be much more progressive than its incumbent.

What Mr Abbott seemingly expected to be a cordial rubber-stamping of his pre-selection to fight his 10th election in Warringah, turned out to be a snub – and is said to have ended in “uproar” – with up to 40 per cent of the grass-roots attendees opposing him.

The numbers weren’t disclosed to the room, reportedly igniting cat-calling from the rebels for officials to “release the results” – and cries of “disgrace” and “transparency is dead”.

There were 90 people in attendance, with The Daily Telegraph reporting that more than 30 per cent voted against him, and Fairfax Media was told the number could be as high as 36.

We want to see this guy go

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Mr Abbott seemed “surprised” at the insurrection – he was, after all, running unopposed.

But it must have struck him that he was supposedly among friends – and that the will and the character of his constituency was now more of a mystery to him than was comfortable.

As the Herald reported, one member said on Saturday: “Everybody with any degree of commitment to the party and its long-term future wants to see this guy go, he’s just useless.”

Daily Telegraph reporter Sharri Markson tweeted Mr Abbott’s sour triumph, noting “attempts to roll him failed, but the result was tight and the final vote was not released – which outraged some”.

#BringBackAbbott tweeted that the coup had failed and that “to roll an enduringly popular, high profile MP like Abbott in his seat would’ve been self-destructive stupidity!”

Fairfax: it’s Abbott, Abbott, Abbott time again!
AMM  16/09/2018

Yep, another lengthy and dubious shot at Tony Abbott’s pre-selection meeting.

With so many people, according to this article, wanting Abbott to be gone one would have thought a name, just one name would have popped up as a modicum of credibility.

No, it was the usual weasel words, sources, a member, Fairfax was told, said one local member, may have, and so on. Journalism at its laughable best? More like script writing for a fake sitcom. Entertaining nonetheless!

Tony Abbott has narrowly avoided being kicked out of the blue ribbon seat he has held for 25 years following a backlash fuelled by his role in the demise of Malcolm Turnbull and conservative views on climate change and same-sex marriage.

A look at the sort of feminazi extremists controlling the sick and sorry Greenies these days and who of course HATE misogynist Tony Abbott.

Women no longer the gentler sex!
AMM 16/09/2018

...

Spoken from a curmudgeon bloke’s point of view, women, well … some women of the feminazi ilk are charging down the road to a nasty dead end.

Already blokes are seriously gun shy to open their mouths around women lest there be a malcontent salivating for court action—the ‘MeTo thing’ has caused collateral damage.

Blokes could lose their jobs for giving a thumbs up and a wink. I don’t open doors anymore since being publicly humiliated for doing so. Yeah, I held the door open and she breezed through without a word until I said, “I’m not the doorman you know.” “Ah get effed ya pervert,” she screamed, which alerted bank security.

It’s funny how the loud feminazi squad look like clones of that stupid Greens senator—Sarah Mung-Bean! The other funny thing is that, praise the Lord, the really attractive beauties spend half their wages on looking good, provoking approbation—it makes everyone feel good. Except the bitter equality warriors that turn men off like a 200,000 volt short circuit.

Patriarchy paradox: how equality reinforces stereotypes
Source: The Times

We all know what is meant to happen when the genders become more equal. As women smash glass ceilings and open up education, other differences should disappear too.

Without the psychological shackles of being the second sex, women are free to think and behave as they want; to become physicists or CEOs, unfettered by outdated stereotypes.

France, for example, even has a Minister for Gender Equality, Marlene Schiappa.

Yet to the confusion of psychologists, we are seeing the reverse. The more gender equality in a country, the greater the difference in the way men and women think. It could be called the patriarchy paradox.

Two new studies have again demonstrated this counterintuitive result, meaning it is now one of the best-established findings in psychology, even if no one can properly explain it.

In a survey of about 130,000 people from a total of 22 countries, scientists from the University of Gothenburg have shown that countries with more women in the workforce, parliament and education are also those in which men and women diverge more on psychological traits.

Separately, a research paper published in the online journal Plos One found that in countries ranked as less gender equal by the World Economic Forum, women were more likely to choose traditionally male courses such as the sciences, or online study.

Erik Mac Giolla was the lead researcher in the first study. He said that, if anything, the results found a bigger difference than in previous work. Personality is typically measured using the “big five” traits. These are openness, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness and neuroticism. Women typically score higher on all of them, but there is always overlap.

In China, which still scores low on gender parity, the personality overlap between men and women was found to be about 84 per cent. In the Netherlands, which is among the most gender equal societies, it turned out to be just 61 per cent.

“It seems that as gender equality increases, as countries become more progressive, men and women gravitate towards traditional gender norms,” said Dr Mac Giolla. “Why is this happening? I really don’t know.”

Steve Stewart-Williams, from the University of Nottingham, said that there was now too much evidence of this effect to consider it a fluke.

“It’s not just personality. The same counterintuitive pattern has been found in many other areas, including attachment styles, choice of academic speciality, choice of occupation, crying frequency, depression, happiness and interest in casual sex,’’ he said.

“It’s definitely a challenge to one prominent stream of feminist theory, according to which almost all the differences between the sexes come from cultural training and social roles.”

Dr Stewart-Williams, author of The Ape That Understood the Universe, said an explanation could be that those living in wealthier and more gender-equal societies have greater freedom to pursue their own interests and behave more individually, so magnifying natural differences.

Whatever the reason for the findings, he argued that they mean we should stop thinking of sex differences in society as being automatically a product of oppression. “These differences may be indicators of the opposite: a relatively free and fair society,” he said.

If this contradicted some feminist analyses, he said it was also a surprise to pretty much everyone else too.

“It seems completely reasonable to think that, in cultures where men and women are treated very differently and have very different opportunities, they’ll end up a lot more different than they would in cultures where they’re treated more similarly and have a similar range of opportunities.

“But it turns out that this has it exactly backwards. Treating men and women the same makes them different, and treating them differently makes then the same. I don’t think anyone predicted that. It’s bizarre.”

Now the TRUTH is coming out.

Tony Abbott received 70 per cent of votes for re-endorsement: Liberal Party VP
16/09/2018|4min

Claims of a revolt against former Prime Minister Tony Abbott during a re-endorsement meeting in his Sydney electorate of Warringah have been refuted.

Mr Abbott reportedly received a meagre 55 per cent of the party’s support for a re-endorsement vote.

Liberal Party Vice-President Teena McQueen has told Sky News, contrary to reports, that he received 70 per cent of the vote.

Given that he was running unopposed, that still seems to be 30 per cent who would prefer to vote for blank space.

It is always fun to bucket absurd Lefties like the Polly Waffle VIRUS with the TRUTH.

But then NOBODY ever believes ANYTHING that oozes out of a lying denying Lefty.

Abbo slaughtered the Lefty/Greeny extremist invaders with 70% VICTORY.

When Tony Abbott stopped the carbon trading that was set up to milk the Australian people of billions of dollars he made bitter enemies who are not only very rich but also very powerful.

They can afford to pay for thousands of nasty posts about Abbott.  They have to get rid of him at any price.

It is all about big money. And Greeny extremists.

Michael Photios’ business partner joins Tony Abbott snub
ANDREW CLENNELL 7:28PM SEPTEMBER 17, 2018

...
Former prime minister Tony Abbott. Picture: AAP

David Begg, who is the husband of NSW upper house MP Natalie Ward, and who is known as a longstanding opponent of Mr Abbott, was joined by Melina Rohan, a staff member of federal North Sydney MP Trent Zimmerman, and former Liberal MP Chris Puplick in criticising Mr Abbott at the meeting.

Amid speculation that Mr Abbott had barely won a majority at the meeting, the NSW Liberal Party released the figures from the vote today: Mr Abbott won 68 votes, with those who voted against him, or voted for an “empty chair”, attracting 30 votes. There were two informal votes.

Mr Begg and his colleagues were criticised by a leader of their moderates faction, who said yesterday of the stunt: “It’s absolutely pathetic. At a time when the NSW branch is more united than ever, these amateurs pull this stunt.

“These guys were trying to take on a former prime minister who deserves respect.”

Mr Begg said he would not reveal his vote, but said: “It’s a secret ballot. Our forebears fought in two world wars to (preserve) our right to it.”

Ms Ward is said to be keen to wrest the moderates leadership off state MP Matt Kean.

Mr Abbott slammed branch members who had told Fairfax Media journalists that almost half of those present on the night voted against him.

...
Michael Photios. Picture: Kym Smith

“If there’s a problem with our polity right now, it’s not so much the budget deficit; it’s the trust deficit,” Mr Abbott said.

“The backgrounding, briefing, leaking; it’s just plain wrong. The failure to be straight with people — this is what’s killing our polity and it’s doing enormous damage to the Liberal Party.

“If I have something to say, I say it to their face.”

Mr Abbott said unlike others, he had told the truth and said the vote was about 70-30.

“Maybe they’re disappointed Malcolm Turnbull is no longer prime minister; that no one ran against me; maybe they want the Liberal Party … to be the Labor Party.’’

A Liberal Party spokesman said of the decision to finally release the vote three days after the ballot: “A recent review of the party’s constitution has determined that the returning officer is obliged to declare the result of the ballot, not the number of votes cast for or against.

“Nevertheless, given inaccurate information being reported regarding the recent Warringah endorsement meeting, and at the request of the candidate, we advise that the Hon. Tony Abbott MP was endorsed with 68 votes for, 30 votes against and 2 informal votes.”

https://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/michael-photios-business-partn...

And what the Lefties can't wait to see - what the man in the street thinks.

Mike 12 HOURS AGO
The Photios’ of this world always come a cropper as they get too big for their boots. In the end Voterland will not look so positively on the hold Photios currently has over the current mob of Liberal MP’s.

On the other hand, bet you that Tony Abbott maintains or increases his hold on Warringah in 2019.

Robert 13 HOURS AGO
If it makes you feel better Michael continue your dreaming.  Even in spite of the complete failure of the " coup" 70 percent not a bad score.  I do remember poor Malcolm, announced after a 1 seat win  it was a " solid" win, one can only imagine how Malcolm would have described a 70 percent win, you can be assured he would not have used the word disastrous.

Helen 20 HOURS AGO
Michael Photios & co are on a mission to force renewable energy (& the massive subsidies it requires) on to Australia. Why?

Because he has been promised a percentage of this massive gravy train just like Turnbull & Bishop.

He has ensured this will happen by stacking branches of the Libs with leftist "progressives" who have obediently voted Turnbull's way, which has completely decimated the Liberal Party.

They hate Abbott because he represents the old guard & he calls them out on undermining the Australian people. Not only is he the old guard, Tony Abbott may well be the saviour of the Liberal Party & the Parliament!
