I think a lot depends on your expectations as well.

I have a couple of ozito "Bunning cheapie tools"

If you use them easy, they work OK and last without any issues.

I have a drill that works fine
Cost me $19.95
I needed it when I was working on my dad's place and left my Makita at home.
That was 12 years ago, the drill still works fine.
But if you push it too hard, it does tend to smoke a bit,
So I don't use it for hard work.
It's light and works fine otherwise.

But even good tools have issues.
I bought a portable MIG welder a few years ago.
It was a good brand, but it died after a few hours of welding.
They wouldn't replace it so I told them to shove it and bought a different brand
It's still going strong

Luck of the draw I guess

I needed an HDMI cable and JBHifi had them for 80 bucks. Got 3 at aldi for 10 bucks each. Most other stuff i have gotten from them has broken though. Apparently they sell them once a year in the same month each time.

depends how much you will be using a tool as to which brand to buy.

if you are using them a lot , you HAVE to buy the expensive quality brand in my opinion

honda self propelled mowers and stihl chainsaws are a must.

even with stihl, they can range from 500 to 3000 for a chainsaw of the same size.

most people might use a chainsaw twice a year.  a 150 dollar job from aldi might be ok.

my fencer told me he often has his chainsaw running 8 hours a day ,  your aldi saw would be buggered in a week .

i use a straight shaft whipper snipper with a blade for lantana.

the honda seems to be capable of hours and hours  if you keep the oil up to it .

the stihl is not as good in the whipper snipper, and niether is the husqvarna.

one thing i did get from aldi that has been superb is a 300 dollar generator that i just use at a remote shed. the thing never misses a beat.
now when a honda generator is 8 times the price, its hard to justify.
but a generator just sits there purring along.
its a different case for a chain saw or a whipper snipper which you almost have to abuse to do some jobs, thats where you want to buy quality
