Nasty... What is more nasty is letting your mate get a kicking and backing away, disgusting behaviour by the younger man. Is there no honour among friends? I hope I have no friends like that man.

I'm not likely to get into footy fan dangoes, it's mindless crap but if you let your mate cop a flogging, you are one gutless piece of shyte.

I listen to 3AW on the radio.

That vicious attack was talked about all day.

Those thugs should be hanged.

Stands to reason if you were gong to punch TF out of him you would nullify his defences. Why he was trying to punch TF out of him is what I'd like to know, should we ban footy? Does it make people violent like playing computer games? Why didn't his friend jump in?

On the news tonight a guy of similar age who attacked an old man in a Sydney suburb is facing a possible 25 years... sounds good to me.  The judge has already told him he will be receiving a heavy sentence for the brutal and unprovoked attack, then theft from the old man of $300.

-I must admit this worries me for another reason- the way men are so brutal toward each other and over a game of footy ? My son has an aggressive edge when I say that he is a young man (22) who likes to give off the vibe of quiet aggression   that he can punch  out of anyone who thinks they might want to attack him- ie- he is always ready to fight someone off- perceived or real- he does gym to big himself up a bit to send the same message- but he is not a stupid bone head he is almost finished a degree in creative media- I am worried that he thinks that his life is going to go forward having to  defend off  fkwits like this and my impulse is to protect him ( he wont have it)- is it really that bad with grown sons-? any input here would be appreciated i worry for him- he is my only boy- i worry about this a lot

When I was a kid at school - a very, very long time ago -
we had a rule -
you don't hit someone who is on the ground.
To break that rule would mean that you would be beaten up
by others while you were defenseless on the ground.

I mean - holding someone's arm down so that their face was a clear shot
for repeated punches while on the ground is appalling.

None of my sons give off this "vibe". They don't "bulk" themselves up but I think they all know where to draw the line in standing up.

Even with rules - I still took many beatings &
handed out a lot of beatings too.
The ratio was about 50%.
It was a rough school.

I was never beaten at school but I took a few at home and after I left school. It's not being beaten that matters, it's putting up the fight.

at school -
I was rolling around on the ground wrestling in a big fight
& I got kneed in the face.
Wow - I'll never forget the pain.
My face & one eye swelled up like a pumpkin.

In another fight I traded about 20 punches each with a bloke who was bigger than me but none of his punches landed -
but 3 or 4 of my punches did and he never turned up for school for 2 weeks -
he was so badly beaten up.
He had a minimum of 2 black eyes closed up so he couldn't even see.
Those were the days that I would never want to repeat.

It was always over nothing -
you could never remember what started it.

My first school fight was over a plastic boomerang that came in Wheaties boxes back in about 1964 or 5. The kids name was Clinton Palmer and he grabbed the boomerang and would not give it back. It was mine and I took it back. In reality it was just a piece of mass produced plastic but that wasn't the point. He was quite a bit bigger than me too.

Edit: Thinking, I remember what almost all of them were about. There are a few I'm not sure of but if I wrack my brain I might remember. A couple of those I can't remember my have just come down to stubbornness on both sides and not giving in about something, pride. I tend not to back down and have never run away.

Typical school -
actually one fight I had was because a guy stole a peeled  orange out of my hand and started eating it.

No - so I had to set an example to the others who were watching -
it's about your image and if you have the respect of the students.  Grin

Well its about time those Melbournian 'whiteys' show the Sudis (a skinny spear from Sudan) & Polynesians (a big fat yellow Pineapple) how its done.  Cool

By right, those AFL 'supporters' should be more better at a full-on 'Biffo' than those NRL 'players' themselves. I mean, there is 'thousands' more of them little f**$^^rs down there, following AFL,  than what plays NRL in Sydney.
