The Sudanese make up about 0.1% of the Victorian population. Yet, they contribute 1% of all the crime. That is quite considerable for a community the size of Ararat. According to the offender profile of Sudanese, 12% of Sudanese living in Victoria are involved in crimes. I would not be able to leave the house if 12% of Rockhamptonites could commit violent crimes in town here. It is bad enough that 1% cause mist crime in Rockhampton.

850 out of a community of 6500 people is a considerable number of offenders. 50,000 criminals out of a population of 6.5 million Victorians is the "drop in the ocean".

Where do you get that 850 out of 6500 thing?

6500 Sudanese living in Victoria. Approximately 850 of those Sudanese who are the offenders.

If you look at the other end of it, they make up more than 90% of the population.

We have no probs with them here, not sure what the go is in Melbourne. We have at least one Sudanese refuge from Melbourne(ie he ran away from Melbourne), he came here to get away from what was happening in Melbourne. One thing you cannot deny is the figures down there. My eldest has been robbed by them, never any other group. The stats from your link are alarming, the difference of 10% more younger people than average does not account for the 300% higher rates of crime per 100,000.

It would have to be a considerable crime. Simple assault should not be included. But grievous bodily harm should be included. They would have to serve a sentence here first, before being sent back. Otherwise, you would not want a murderer being given a free ride home without punishment. (Goes without saying, I guess?)
