Why is human imagination so important ?
Aug 28th, 2018 at 10:22pm

In the human quest of our current exploration of our solar system,
and in our ambition to establish colonies on the moon and Mars,
and in our ambition to explore space beyond our solar system;

Why is 'dreaming' important ?

Why is human imagination important ?

What is it, to dream ?

What is it, to imagine ?

And where does 'reality' begin, or end ?

Q.
Why is it,       that human imagination, can imagine a future, of human exploration of our solar system and of space beyond,
but none of us are able to      imagine      a peaceful world,     that is, a world without human conflict ?

If the latter were truly achievable [the true imagination of it], wouldn't we have already achieved that goal ?

.

Ecclesiastes 1:12
I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
13  And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.
14  I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
15  That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.
16  I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.
17  And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.
18  For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

"From whence come wars..."

.

Q.
Does the path we choose in life, determine the destination we will arrive at ?

Some say such a conclusion is absurd and unwarranted.

Quote:

Day after day alone on the hill,
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still,
But nobody wants to know him,
They can see that he's just a fool,

Good Topic Yadda.

One question: Are you an American?
I mean - that's an 'American' (Aviation) ...dream.

The Australian dream is 'down under' ...the oceans.
That immortal 'look within' - that we must help the world take.
Of course, the Americans don't want to look within, they won't like what they see. That's why they always dream of taking flight (first from Europe) ...to Mars now.
Leave those problems behind.

As for imagination in general?
Well, the more species (of life) we make extinct - its like more brain cells we kill and the less imagination we have.

The world of Life (not knowledge ...like through Holy Books) is IMAGINATION.

Do the dead talk to us in our dreams?

I have no way of proving it to you bobby,     but i do NOT believe, that those who talk to us in our dreams, are 'the now dead'.

I wasn't really expecting an answer as such, more of a philosophical view point, some of your questions may forever go unanswered.

What if you have some problem to solve and while
you're sleeping you go back to a time in your childhood
when your grandmother gives you advice and
that situation is experienced in a dream?
Isn't your grandmother still alive in a strange kind of way?
Her presence is as real as if it was really happening -
you can't tell the difference even though in theory
your mind is creating the whole event.

The 'dead' enter your dreams via the world they leave behind.

You see them in old holy books, pyramids, cave paintings, gizmos, sunken wrecks ...via 'history'.

That, dear Bobby. Is how the Dead - enter your dreams.

But also in flashbacks to previous times - one could say dreams -

I'm so happy to read that my Arch-Enemy has gone to the Copper Pyramid in the sky.  Smiley

I suddenly feel a sense of 'inner peace' coming to me.

Thanks Yadda for starting us off. My head hurts straight away.

Why is human imagination important ?

Human imagination is important because it is Imagination that is the creative power that is necessary for inventing an instrument, designing a dress or a house, painting a picture or writing a book. The creative power of imagination has an important role in the achievement of success in any human endeavor.
It is through imagination that we create our future. It inspires us and ignites or passion. It stimulates creativity and innovation.
And I use imagination to escape reality because reality sucks sometimes.
I remember seeing a video of the late Richard Feynman who said that for him, science was a process of imagining how the universe works, do an experiment and if they corollate then you may be right, but this just shows you are not wrong. Then we use this theory based on a using our imagination to guess,  on our innovations.
