Moreover it buys influence, an ambassador hinting that government might need to rethink its aid budget carries a big carrot.

And with China in our region, time to ramp up soft power and aid.

As for your bottom line you still don't get it. It is irrelevant whether the Indonesians need foreign aid or not. They have coin and a ready market. We turn a handy profit from the venture.

Secondly, we do not borrow money from China. Deficits are funded by the issue of Australian government bonds in native currency.

You are the kind of misinformed fool who by their own ignorance allows the likes of Turnbull, Shorten and company to garner support for populist policies with questionable economic benefit. Go away.
