I saw the tail end of something last night on ABC. They were saying the banks are going to have to reimburse ppl for the personal finance advisor services nobody received? If this is true i should get some money because i opened an account with macquarie that forced me to have a financial advisor appointed by them. I never heard from them and the 1 time i tried to contact them (to find out what they were) i coudlnt get hold of them. I had that account for years and years. they may be sending me some money.

It's about risk vs profit. Home loans shouldn't be speculative i.e. high risk investments. So if less people get home loans it means they are a risk to the bank and shareholders.

Malcolm Turnbull scorned Bill Shorten in parliament last year when he asked if the government would set up a royal commission. Turnbull suggested: “What the leader of the oppposition is doing, in his gutlessness and in his pathetic populism, is promising years and years of lawyers.”

Turnbull continued: “The banks are not scared of a royal commission, sunshine. They have got plenty of lawyers and big law firms.”

You have to love the condescending use of “sunshine” – I guess if you are going to be wrong, you might as well be arrogant about it.

Something we should all perhaps remember when it comes to voting
