Former British foreign secretary Boris Johnson found himself in trouble this week after writing that women wearing burqas resembled “bank robbers” and that they “go around looking like letter boxes”.

But Johnson has since won a notable chap's support:

British comedian Rowan Atkinson, who famously played Mr Bean, has given his verdict on the comments made by Johnson in a letter to The Times.

"As a lifelong beneficiary of the freedom to make jokes about religion, I do think that Boris Johnson’s joke about wearers of the burka resembling letterboxes is a pretty good one," said the Blackadder and Mr Bean actor.

He added, "All jokes about religion cause offence, so it’s pointless apologising for them. You should really only apologise for a bad joke. On that basis, no apology is required."

As well, Atkinson observed, Johnson’s letterboxes line offered an “almost perfect visual simile” that “will stay in the public consciousness for some time to come”. Some Muslim women were on Johnson’s side, too:

I am scared of the niqab and the burka. What they represent is a choice to opt out of the democratic society we live in… To normalise the niqab and the burka is also to normalise politics that are anti-choice, anti-LGBT rights and against women’s right to be free from oppression.

Regardless of his supporters, Johnson faces a potentially brutal punishment:

Just because a Thread contains the word 'Muslim' does not justify you coming out from under that bridge to bring out your one trick pony and re-post exactly the same gibber you have a zillion times already.

It is so boringly repetitive, and no-one bothers with it anymore, I reckon.

I didn't see anything in what cods posted in the OP, as being any justification for that thread title.

It offends me, when i see people blithely trying to misrepresent, the character of 'the moslem'.
....as trying to portray the character of 'the moslem', and the character of another person who is NOT a moslem, as being in anyway similar.

They are not.

Moslems are a people apart.

Their own faith mandates that very circumstance.
