What would you do if your Home was being bombed by Turnbull?  Stay there, or get out of the joint?

Oh dear...  sigh, English not your first language eh Gunga.

Oh and to the Grammar Nazi...  WHO was totally correct this time... there are multiple choices and multiple bombers.

That's a racist comment, Grendel. I thought you weren't racist??

So you've given up on the constitutional and political reform you came here with to settle down here as just another SJW that wants to call names. Not saying One Arm is any better but in 12 months you have given away what you came with and turned into another sook.

I gave up on my constitutional and political reform because no one wants it. And frankly, there's no point in banging in my head against a wall. As I recall, you were quite silent on discussion about my reforms proposals.

Regarding the last part of your sentence and alluding to the comment that G made, I think it's important that I call him out on it. He often claims that he is not racist, yet makes racists comments about Aussie. You're welcome to call me an SJW for calling out someone who makes a racist comment about someone (let's be honest about his wife's ethnicity, which I considered out of bounds in an ethical sense); but I think I've shown common decency.

I'm not sure I feel happy about your political transformation. I feel we have lost someone exploring politics and it's ramifications to the SJW caretaker of other's feelings.

No one has the right to not be offended, eh?

Cunning.

Sometimes the only way to get someone to the table is to protect their feelings. Most people, particularly on the Left won't engage with people who hold offensive views (I've experienced this personally). Offending people just makes people not want to engage with you, and then we're back to square one.

From a political standpoint, I won't vote for a candidate who offends me or those close to me. And I suspect that many people feel that way.

One issue voter?

No, I wouldn't call myself that. I'm simply saying that if a politician believes that gays will go to hell, a comment made by Israel Falau and supported by Cory Bernadi, that I'm not going to support him because I believe his opinion to be extremely offensive.

I'm not sure how that makes me a one-issue voter?? Maybe I'm missing something?? Care to elaborate??

A politician would hold that view? Sounds like a religious nut. Hmm...

Derived from the MG-42, with a halved (or so) rate of fire, and with a flaw in the return piston that meant it broke without warning....  would still fire but it might blow up in your face....

No Malbun Kaffir ever raped an M-60.... or a Minimi....

politicians would do well to go back and review some very interesting studies done in the USA in the 70's.

1000's of troubled inner city  youth with problematic criminal behaviours were mixed in with "good kids" and sent to summer camps.
the cohort was followed and the thought was that the good kids would influence the bad kids and the experience would result in less troubled behaviours when the kids returned to their inner city disadvantage.

but universally that did not happen.
not at all.
what happened was that the bad kids seeded criminal and delinquint behaviour into the good kids.
and the good kids went back and werent so good anymore.

its an interesting finding.

when you put people with troubling behaviour in a good society, the society doesnt turn them into model citizens, THEY infect the society and the thing spirals downwards.

this would seem to be playing out.

when you put criminals in a suburb, the whole suburb turns rotten.

when you put a few radicals in a mosque, the good muslims dont change them, they change the good muslims.

when you mix prison populations, the worst people arent socialised to be better, the reverse happens.

when you put a petty thief  in a workplace,   other people take up petty thievery.

when you put one fat person in a share house, the thin people put on weight.

its why its really important to have good boundaries, both personal, familial, at the village level and at the national level about who you do and do not let into your "ecosystem "

Are you saying your "shot on sight" was a minor overreach in the artistic sense and what you really meant was they should install a few of these near the riots and give them a scare?

Not quite -
just the fact that the rioters would know that
it's martial law so they could be shot would clear the streets.  Wink

Remember the backbone we were discussing? C'mon Bobby, tell us what you really mean and stick to it, defend it.

Set,
martial law means that you can be shot on sight.
Sometimes it's the only way to restore law and order.

OK - what would be your solution?

Bobby, you never mentioned martial law until I called you on they should all be shot on sight and advised that may be messy. You never said by who, just that they should be. I suggested that they may instead be summarily hung on power poles to save on that unsightly mess of other forms of execution.

There was no prevarication in what should be done in your statement before I replied.

Set,
you created a strawman argument.
How the hell can you hang 1000s of rioters from lamp posts?
The police should go there with guns & start shooting.
You have to be practical.

So - what is your idea?

Good attempt at making it all my fault Bobby but I never said to shoot anyone. All I did was comment on your "shoot 'em all" theme and remember you didn't like shooting as it was too messy. I offered an alternative. You then tried to change what you meant for some spineless reason instead of sticking to your guns. I don't mind hearing your point of view, I want to hear it but when you are questioned on it your spine gets a little gelified. I want to hear your opinion, not your opinion filtered through a spine of cartilage.

There are only 3 tough guys on Ozpolitic who would hang them for free:
me, Valkie & Hammer.

Therefore you can't accuse me of not having the stomach for a good christian hanging.

Bobby, you would not do it.

But you can't be sure of that.
What about Valkie & Hammer?
Are you calling them liars too?
