UK's GCHQ to support Democrats during the 2018 midterms

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) in his Twitter accused British secret services of intention to use deep fakes to throw mud at Republicans during the 2018 midterm elections to the U.S. Congress due to take place in early November.

Previously, Fox News senior judicial analyst judge Andrew Napolitano claimed that GCHQ had spied on Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. "Three intelligence sources have informed Fox News that President Obama went outside the chain of command (to spy on Trump). He didn't use the NSA, he didn't use the CIA... he used GCHQ."

Besides, in his book 'Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House', author Michael Wolf says that the former UK prime minister Tony Blair had a secret meeting with Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, during which Blair suggested that the British had had the Trump campaign staff under surveillance and possibly even Trump himself. However later Blair dismissed Wolf's statement as a "complete invention".

At that time the British issued public comments calling the U.S. claims "utterly ridiculous" and "nonsense". This time however they will have to find a much more convincing explanation of their actions.

GCHQ spies on everybody, Chris. They collect metadata.

Now who would you rather have on side? A Deep State agency that collects your information and does nothing with it?

Or a group of Russian intelligence officers who are prepared to hack and release your opponent's emails, followed up with teams of writers to turn them into fake news and memes for social media, and then paid online trolls to share and comment on it all?

As reported by CNN cnn.com/2019/06/22/politics/russia-fake-rubio-tweet/index.html last year, and more recent more in depth investigation at secondaryinfektion.org by internet analytics company graphika.com

A simple Google search can confirm that Marco Rubio never made the tweet claimed in the original post in this thread. The image and claims in that post are a forgery posted by Russian disinformation operatives. The Russians were the source of the claim that UK intelligence agencies were alledgedly use deepfake videos to aid US Democrats.

The pattern by this Russian group pattern was to post images of forged documents on obscure forums, then amplify that on Facebook and elsewhere with links back to the original post. This particular fabrication was eventually run as a news story on the Russian Propaganda site rt.com. The biggest set of forged documents targeted Ukraine, but other forgeries attempted to undermine the US, the EU, Turkey, political opponents within Russia, and amusingly they also targeted Olympic and other international sporting competitions as unfair, unprofessional, and Russophobic. (Russia was suspended from the 2018 Winter Olympics and many Russian Olympic Medals were revoked due to massive government sponsored drug-doping of athletes, and apparently this was enough of a national embarrassment to warrant the involvement of national black-ops intelligence services.
