In an emergency, I'd prefer to have the vital information needed about me or my family members available as quickly as possible.

I don't trust any Governmental Bureaucracy or even private firm with my data, but there is a balance between conspiratorial paranoia and helping to protect those you care about.

It's easy to say now while the honeypot is intact, however.

What a total Govt. stuff up.
How can trust clowns like this?

https://www.zdnet.com/article/my-health-record-systems-collapse-under-more-opt-o...

Australians attempting to opt out of the government's new centralised health records system online have been met with an unreliable website. Those phoning in have faced horrendous wait times, sometimes more than two hours, often to find that call centre systems were down as well, and staff unable to help.

The Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA), which runs the My Health Record system, is reportedly telling callers that they weren't expecting the volume of opt-outs.

"On hold with @MyHealthRec for over 1.5 HOURS to opt out without providing my drivers license/passport number. Turns out their entire backed system has crashed and they are telling support staff to just punch peoples details into the website. Confidence inspiring!" tweeted one caller.

"The person i'm speaking to is stressed as bugger. Its their first day. I feel bad for her but she also has no idea what's going on and puts me on hold every time I ask something that's not on the script."

The problems started early on Monday, the first day of the three-month opt-out period before digital health records are created automatically.

I'm IN

In MY individual case, the "pros" far out weigh the "cons"

Two years ago I was ambulanced to intensive care with a near fatal case of
diabetic ketoacidosis

This nasty condition also causes mental confusion
It was left to me to try and remember what prescribed medications I was on
I was treated over four days - in an induced coma
The emergency staff could have established my medications regime accurately and immediately through a "My Health" file

I doubt too many Russian agents would have any great interest in hacking the health details of this 62 year old physical train-wreck

And that's the pity.
If you opt out then you could be vulnerable if something goes wrong.

Wont be long until all the travel insurance companies have their own doctors paid to look up claimant records when necessary to quash claims for overseas hospitalisation due to some pre existing obscure condition.

I agree my regular chemist knows what meds I have had from them in the past, as they will often comment on a new med you haven't had before.

Not sure if you went to a chemist on the other side of town if they would  know.

every year I end up on the free meds  and I get a card to use if I go to another chemist...so they can I presume use my account I have with my usual chemist.......if you get a lot of scripts re and not always the same chemist  tell the newby where your account is.. and they will add thatscript to the list....

one year I had 6 months free meds....the year of the bad hip...lolol
