Yes - I was forced to argue with educated intellectuals on another forum, rather than engaging in the free-for-all that comprises OzPol much of the time..... and you know how boring and elitist educated intellectuals can be..... Roll Eyes

quoting chapter and verse from learned journals that still manage to get it wrong..... but when you have that Bible Of The Issue in your hand... well....surely you're entitled to piss on the Great Unwashed and rubbish their lesser standing as an 'intellectual'.......

Same thing again. The server needed rebooting. Not sure why. This is the third time in about a month.

Hostgator got rid of their ticket based support system a while ago. Now everything is done via a "live chat". They call it live, but I think you spend the first 20 minutes talking to a bot. The bot asks you some silly questions that they already know the answer to, such as what sites are you hosting. It then spends the next twenty minutes giving you regular progress updates on how hard it is working. You need to respond with words of encouragement, or the bot thinks you have hung up. If you actually need to walk away, eg to go to the toilet, the bot closes the chat session, and apparently marks the issue as resolved.

Anyway, in my last chat session they gave me a link just for server reboot requests, which supposedly only takes 20 minutes. So that should speed things up if it keeps happening.

When it happened two weeks ago, they told me there was some complicated issue that required 'escalation' to someone who knows how to use a computer.

Meanwhile, my facebook OzPol login always seems to fail whenever the site is down.

Told him the URL and that the site was down. He confirmed they do host OzPol. I asked if he could check and fix any problem if it was at his end. Answer was 'no, a request like that must come from the site Owner.'
