"sneaky manipulation...", 'social media', the tool

"sneaky manipulation...",
        'social media', the tool of ideologues and those with a bent towards totalitarianism.

The YT source is the U.S. based PBS Newshour.

Why we should be more like cats than dogs when it comes to social media
                 8 min
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UROaLW8lmc0

The YT reveals how [through our frequent and constant use of our 'social media' devices] many of us have been     unwittingly     surrendering our [individual] sovereignty and power [i.e. the power of our individual choice] to others!

These are devices, which do have the power and the potential, to misdirect the individual, and to destroy the foundation of a whole society!

And what is scariest, is, that many of us do not even see that dangerous potential, present, in the influence [upon us] of our little 'social media' devices!

"....it takes a long time to build trust. But you can lose trust very quickly."

Every relationship [with another] fundamentally depends upon our need for, and our ability to [fundamentally] trust others.

Any widespread [and yet undetected] deceit and manipulation, by one individual, towards those he comes into contact with will tend to destroy social cohesion within any society of men.

PROPOSITION;
Allowing ourselves to be 'seduced' by the online 'social media' craze, is making us the unwitting victims of,
this "sneaky manipulation...".

....because through our use of our 'social media' devices, we have become the victims, of the subtle manipulation, of our actual lives, but also, the victims, of the subtle manipulation of our 'social' attitudes, and of our 'social' opinions,
by persons who clearly have demonstrated,       that they have an 'interest' in changing our 'social' opinions!

And, we are being subtly conditioned, to allow our own mental manipulation, because of our desire and now our dependence for the ubiquitous 'social media' 'tech', which has 'invaded' all of our lives.

Q.
Is it in our best interest to unwittingly and unquestioningly, allow our dependence upon such a relationship [i.e. the 'relationship', with those who control what we see, on our device] ?

Or are we allowing ourselves to be the dupes and victims, of the manipulation of individuals and of [sometimes nefarious] organisations and governments ?

Dictionary;
dupe = = a victim of deception.

Philippians 3:19
Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

2 Thessalonians 2:11
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12  That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

A man's being in good or bad humor depends upon his will.
- Samuel Johnson

If one wishes to enslave people, constrain their capacity for independent thought - not their hands; for the chain of dependence is incomparably stronger than the chain of iron.
- Law v Freedom

.

Dictionary;
conscience = = a person’s moral sense of right and wrong.

....how easily, it can be misdirected !
