What does "Peace" mean to you
Jun 10th, 2018 at 6:34pm

Peace
Thought
Peace is the concept of harmony and the absence of hostility. In a behavioral sense, peace is a lack of conflict and freedom from fear of violence between individuals and heterogeneous social groups. Wikipedia

can we not discuss fundamental issues..without the hostility??....

I think we do... the hostility if it that is all in cyberspace...we are not in the pub exchanging blows with our fists.....words dont leave bruises...

why cant we talk freely about any subject with the the name calling and "hostilities"  is it part of our makeup that we have to get aggressive just to prove a point?..

if we ever expect to find world peace  isnt this a good place to start.....

stop defending ourselves by attacking...

It's because people are at loggerheads on certain issues right now. That's what happens when you have governments that do what they want and don't listen to the people. Now we have a big mess that's only going to get worse.

well what mess is that?  there are all sort of squabbles   lets be honest if you are referring to world issues...

the Kimmy and Donny thing is out in the open.. I like that.....back in the days when we had the Iron Curtain everyone lived in fear because they had no idea what was going on....everyone knew about a red phone  and everyone imagined some dickhead was sitting there with his finger on it... nothing could have been further from the truth......

its secrets that make people unhappy...dont you think?? not knowing just imagining..

its the same on here... if you cant say what you think .. in a proper fashion I mean.. then to me thats sad...it isnt peace its pretending alls well when in fact its the opposite..

at least Kim and Don are talking about talking  ...instead of hitting back at each other  I think thats a good thing   grown ups being or trying to be seen as grown ups..

you know being ugly with each other never solves anything does it..

I know what you mean,  Cods.

I've held out the olive branch several times only to have it snatched from me and wacked over the head with it.

Oh well

Your opening post is reasonable, but I am not sure you are being realistic about politics in this situation. That is, where ideas and opinion are "published" anonymously. Posters are much freer to say what they think here, than they would be in public. And that is good, not for freedom of speech, but because whether you like it or not, its closer to honesty.

When you say words don't bruise, that is only true in the ethereal sense. If you look at the striking need to have the last word in an exchange, it seems some people simply cannot bear to be contradicted. It's as if their egos have been bruised. They have said what they believe, but they go on for bloody pages of rebuttals.

But then you talk about "getting aggressive." There is no aggression in telling someone they are full of $%1t. I think you are confusing personal insults with aggression. But, and its a big one, I am not going to be all Mr. Nice-Nice with people who are, by their design, or their own ignorance, in favour of taking away my freedom. Often, they are not aware of the ramifications of their own beliefs.

I have been around long enough to know when I have annoyed someone. I do it on purpose when I hold them, and their views, in contempt. I have been called a lot of things on this forum, and I don't give a rat's arse, because I don't believe in racism, dogma, superstition, reinvented history, cultural relativism, social engineering, and blind party-ideology.

True, but neither does the pretense of spirituality.

Close but no cigar Yadda.
Your 'Christian' belief is your mental limitation.
It's like thinking with but a 10% slice of the cake in the 'wisdom' pie graph.
You can't see outside the 'circle' even Roll Eyes

You also don't understand the concept of 'over-achiever' (too much of a good thing is bad for you  Wink) and thus you are mentally locked into aiming to be 'the best' and at the top of the pyramid, etc ...for fear of being 'under-achiever' (bottom of the pyramid).

Take a hint from Glenn McGrath "Bowl Middle-Stump"  Wink

There are a dozen contributors here, who claim to have inside information on cosmic truth. I don't care as long as they don't shove it in everyone's face like they are doing us a favour. Arrogant pricks.
