Money can buy you a house in a nieghbourhood where you can carry your paddleboard to the harbour or a 15min bike ride to the surf beach.

Having no curry munchers, beards and pajamas is also a plus.

I wonder how much money makes happiness a man in his 30s   won $50 million in Canberra yesterday.I wonder how he feels this morning....

at least its raining   we need that   I guess thats all I will get to make me happy this morning.. Smiley

If he is single any partner he has gay or straight will be able to make a gold digging claim on his assets after 2 years.

He has the choice of dumping them before 2 years to protect his assets or choosing high class escorts for sex.

As the old saying goes if you can drive, ride, fly or f u c k it sometimes it's cheaper to rent than buy.

I can't imagine anyone being happier with less rather than more money.   Smiley

Gold diggers would be the only downside with being wealthy, all the rich people I know never talk about money and always cry broke.

I have a lawyer friend (doesn't drive taxis) who trades in girlfriends before 2 years is up so they cannot get their hands on his assets.

Sometimes you waste a lot of money when it comes easy then as you get older you try to hang onto it.

I met a rich person one time who told me the truth:

He said "Bobby" - you wake up every morning wondering if
someone has taken all your wealth.
He also said that it was normal for him to have at least 2 law suits going on against him at any one time.
People would make up lies in order to sue him for
all manner of crazy reasons.

happiness is not a sensible goal in the first place.
because there are going to be long periods of your life where you are facing adversity and suffering and pain.
you may be sick, you may have a sick or injured child, relationship problems,
sure you should be very grateful for the times you are lucky enough to be happy, but it should never be the goal.

the goal should be to create 'meaning" in your life.

so looking after a dying spouse could be extremely meaningful but definitely not happy.

we are all called to things which we find"meaningful".

it might be cooking or it might be caring for kids or caring for the land or running a business.
when you are doing something meaningful, you dont so much become happy as you become engaged.
thats a sort of feeling that everything is in its right place.

money, if used in pursuit of this , is a net good.

but say you are fat steve and you dont have much meaning in your life.
you just want to pleasure yourself (thats your passion).
well then money for you will be a disaster.

if you havent got your life together and you come into money, then that just lets you go downhill quicker...more drugs, more alcohol, more pokies, more call girls and porn....its just an unmitigated disaster for most people to not have some evolutionary pressure to stay on the "narrow road to success".

if your own the road, then money will turbo boost your success.

if you arent on this "narrow road", then more money will drive you over the cliff in an instant
