Monk will have to stay at Aussie's place on the Sunshine coast.
They'll get on each others nerves.

What an odd couple!

At least they could argue face to face.

Why do some idiots always think I follow Al Gore? Do whatever searches you like here, the sewer, my joint. You will not find me quoting Al Gore, supporting Al Gore or doing anything but saying I don’t follow him in any way.

The history of the development of climate science and the Greenhouse Effect goes all the way back to 1820.

In 1905 Arrhenius worked out the basics of the Greenhouse Effect, pretty much correctly—using pen and paper to do all the tedious calculations.

The story moves to the 1930s and an English engineer named Callendar trying to convince professional meteorologists that mankind’s CO2 emissions can indeed change the globe’s climate.

WWII happens and meteorological research gets a boost. The cold war brings a bigger boost: the navies and airforces need to know about the seas and the air. That CO2 (and CH4, N2O, O3. . .) can change the climate is obvious.

Calculations could be done by computers but only by slow ponderous mainframes. Models had to be simple.

1970s and personal computers: researchers could run data on their PCs not loading down the mainframes. And satellites enter the scene.

So from 1820 to the present day the science says that the globe is warming and it has indeed warmed by 1°C and will sooner rather than later reach 1.2°C again and go past it.

What the hell does Al Gore have to do with this?

On the other hand, two of the less intelligent members here, The Moronic and Booby do not follow the science. They follow what is clearly a lying charlatan going by the name of David Dubyne. I bet it is not his real name—he will disappear with his donations and advertising revenues from his YouTube channel.

Monk,
get your woolen long johns & other under garments ready.
have all woolen jumpers & a wind breaker over coat.
Get a good woolen beanie.
If you don't have the right mini ice age clothing you'll freeze in Tasmania.

Australia is HOT nearly 80% of the time.

Give me winter any day of the year.

You can put heaps of clothing on to get warm.
But you can only take so much off when its hot.

Only 'white collars' in air-conditioned offices like the heat.
Try working construction in 48C heat. It doesn't matter how much water you drink for hydration - when your core temperature starts rising and your fellow workers slow right down before dropping. Tongue

currently listening to SBS 'Chill' on the TV. Wink

Like winter surf and getting a park at the beach. Like autumn best tho

It's for his own good -

I have given him free advice from my own experience of extreme cold.

Extreme cold? Melbourne? ahahahahahah

Try walking in the snow when it is -21C! Try walking about town when the maximum temperature is -7°C. Try walking in Germany in January at noon and every twig on the trees has snow on it.

Where my block is it doesn’t go below 0°C. Close to the coast, you see.

The trees I chose need just normal chill so even as the globe warms they will set fruit.

Monk,

I have experienced -25°C any maybe even colder.

I have slept out at night on a mountain at -10°C
in a sleeping bag inside a small tent.

You know nothing about cold.

Then why do you make such a big fuss about normal winter in Melbourne?
