Why do some idiots always think I follow Al Gore? Do whatever searches you like here, the sewer, my joint. You will not find me quoting Al Gore, supporting Al Gore or doing anything but saying I don’t follow him in any way.
The history of the development of climate science and the Greenhouse Effect goes all the way back to 1820.
In 1905 Arrhenius worked out the basics of the Greenhouse Effect, pretty much correctly—using pen and paper to do all the tedious calculations.
The story moves to the 1930s and an English engineer named Callendar trying to convince professional meteorologists that mankind’s CO2 emissions can indeed change the globe’s climate.
WWII happens and meteorological research gets a boost. The cold war brings a bigger boost: the navies and airforces need to know about the seas and the air. That CO2 (and CH4, N2O, O3. . .) can change the climate is obvious.
Calculations could be done by computers but only by slow ponderous mainframes. Models had to be simple.
1970s and personal computers: researchers could run data on their PCs not loading down the mainframes. And satellites enter the scene.
So from 1820 to the present day the science says that the globe is warming and it has indeed warmed by 1°C and will sooner rather than later reach 1.2°C again and go past it.
What the hell does Al Gore have to do with this?
On the other hand, two of the less intelligent members here, The Moronic and Booby do not follow the science. They follow what is clearly a lying charlatan going by the name of David Dubyne. I bet it is not his real name—he will disappear with his donations and advertising revenues from his YouTube channel.
