Foundation Day. June 1st, 1829.
WA Day. June 4th, 2018
So I see, thanks.
Quote:On June 1, 1829, Western Australia's coast was first sighted from the merchant ship Barque Parmelia. This led to the establishment of the Swan River Colony, the first permanent British colony in Western Australia. Western Australia Day (formerly Foundation Day) is officially celebrated on June 1 ...
We still call it Foundation Day where I come from.
It's today! Hooray for WA!
I can understand if they want to make it the Monday for the blowins from whoop-woop but the actual date that the three ships arrived was June 1st.
They were the flagship, The Parmelia, the military ship, The Sulphur, and the wood-duck pilgrims' ship, The Calista, and as many of my ancestors as Ernie Dingo's ancestors arrived in ships arrived on that ship.
That is why us Sandgropers celebrate the sacred ground we walk upon today.
Goodnight.
