Violence on TV
Jun 1st, 2018 at 3:43pm

"Studies show that violence on television does have an adverse affect on children and the way they think and act.

"This is true not only for young children, but some recent studies indicate that watching violence on television can even impact adults."

Maybe some forum members here are watching too many kids' shows on TV.

An awful lot of them seem to have a propensity for violence.

They seem to think its a good thing as long as its directed at something "bad" (like https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0773262/) Dexter

Yes.

The double standards are really quite alarming.

This, from one of our violent forum members:

"It is not that you are violent, but to whom you are violent to that matters, you dolt."

Yes, he really said that.

So is the world, Spot, and tv and movies imitate reality to some extent, usually.  I liked point 6 in the article about "Just say 'no' to violence'.  Well of course, and then there are censors paid by governments to check everything out and classify film and tv into different categories for different age groups and tastes.

I would suggest to uncertain parents that they try to stop their kids downloading 'R' rated movies as well as other ratings which might be beyond their children's age at the time.  Under 12?  General Exhibition only.  That's 'G' for short.

What about the "adults", Imrah?

What do you do with people who "think" like this:

"It is not that you are violent, but to whom you are violent to that matters, you dolt."

Well Greggery!  Hello!  What a most wonderful surprise!
Thank you much for being here right now when I just logged in to post a thought in the multicultural forum, but you've been on my mind all afternoon and I reckon this must be a lucky sign that the first reply I get to make when I flicked through the recent posts, of all the possible chances there might have been, it was YOU, Greggery.  Eureka!  That's what I'll call you from now on.

Adults are assumed upon 'flying the nest' as such to be mature and capable of telling truth from fiction.  I recommend Mark Twain's understanding that truth is stranger than fiction because fiction makes more sense.  In society, we trust the censors to rate movies that only adults are best to absorb as restricted-audience, 'R', then there is an 'X' for devos and anything worse than that is banned.

Unfortunately, with respect you have touched on a valid point, if we consider some of the modern psychological techniques that are used in commercial advertising, such as NLP, because these are equally effective on non-commercial advertising as well.

I think that Channel 7 news sounds like a good idea after all.
Have a good weekend, mate.
