We should cut foreign aid to Indonesia
May 25th, 2018 at 11:39am

Quote:
Indonesia bought $400M worth of attack helicopters last week - while we delivered $320M in aid

Boeing sells the Apache AH 64E for about $48M AUD.
This week Indonesia took delivery of 8 of them - not far shy of $400M in one order.

It's a bit galling to know that Australia will send Indonesia about $320M in foreign aid this year - the US gives about half that amount.

http://www.michaelsmithnews.com/2018/05/indonesia-bought-400m-worth-of-attack-he...

If they can afford to spend $400 million on military helicopters why are we giving them aid?

Quote:
Foreign Aid

The Liberal Democrats believe government foreign aid, other than short term humanitarian relief, should cease.

Policy

Aid to foreign countries by the Australian government, other than short term humanitarian relief following natural disasters, should cease.

Donations by private individuals to foreign aid projects should neither be encouraged nor discouraged by the government.

Organisations that accept donations for the purposes of providing aid to other countries, and which receive Australian tax exemptions or concessions, must each year publish an annual report incorporating a statement of goals, progress towards the achievement of these goals, full financial accounts including details of income from donations, investment, fund-raising etc, plus expenditure including remuneration. Reports are to be lodged with the Australian Taxation Office and made publicly available.

https://www.ldp.org.au/foreign_aid

We are borrowing money that has to be repaid with interest why are we giving it away to countries that spend more than this on their military?

Aid recepients who must be handled with kid gloves in case the slightest offense real or perceived sets the gibbering monkeys frothing at the mouth thinking of way to kill us for their prophet.

I disagree.  Foreign aid is not only about helping the needy.  Its about increasing leverage for diplomacy.  Indonesia is critical, in terms of containing China, especially in the South China sea.  Indonesia is also important ideological battle ground.  Saudi Arabia for example, also invests hundreds of millions into schools, universities, to promote their brand of ideology.  We need to do the same to counter that.   Withdrawing out foreign aid, would just give the others a free ticket.

Nah
Stop the aid and build up a nuclear arsenal

Indomonkeyland is not that big
2 or 3 Nukes would be all we need to clean that part of the world quite adequately .

Stop the aid

As was once said, slightly differently

Or as Al Capone once said

You accomplish more with a smile, a handshake and a gun than you do with just a smile and a handshake.

Haha, then there will be a regional nuclear arms race.  And furthermore, I don't think USA would want us to have a nuclear bomb.  Perhaps at best, they can lend us one, by parking it with a B2 bomber in Darwin.

Realistically, I think we need to create two aircraft carrier groups to strengthen our naval and air presence.  One over in the West coast, and the other Northern tip cover the East coast.   But then again, that means we need to spend more money that we don't have.   Huh

I can just imagine monkey and building up a nuclear arsenal

Bamboo rockets
Paper mache weapons
Cardboard guns
Fishing boat aircraft carriers
Tanks made of woven matting

They would run around going "BANG BANG" while pretending to shoot.

But seriously folks
They have neither the intelligence or capabilities to even consider contemplating the remotest possibility of thinking about how to build weapons of any serious intent.

And knowing these monkeys, if they did manage to build a weapon, where would they test it, ideally Bali.

And then some stupid monkey woukd stuff it up and blow themselves off the face of the earth.

Win win

Of course you'd disagree Grin

When the Indos spend the majority of aid we give them on military hardware instead of where it's meant to go ....

then it should be withdrawn.

They are always skyting how wealthy they are & don't need our money ..... well good

cut the arrogant, ignorant, trigger happy, chip on their shoulder bastards with littlemans syndrome loose.

And btw .. they can p1ss off out of West Papua ... the genocidal little colonial hypocrites.

Your foreign aid will get you no leverage if you are unwilling to withdraw it, especially if you cite your effort to maintain leverage as the reason for not using it.

Indonesia is experiencing creeping Islamofascism. At some point our foreign aid is just going to be misused for propping up that Islamofascism, rather than fighting it.

You will see more boats arrive on Australian shores within a week of that happening, under a tidal wave disaster. This time, though, it will be Indonesians rocking up in their tens of thousands asking us to give them houses that we have available on land that they claim to own and we have been living on for the last 70 years.
