A true warrior passes
May 20th, 2018 at 6:16am

Vale Ark Tribe.

Ark was the first construction worker to be charged with not attending a hearing under John Howard's original ABCC laws.

In 2008, Ark participated in a workplace meeting over safety issues on a site in Adelaide that had such poor safety that WorkSafe shut it down.

The ABCC then demanded Ark appear at a secret interrogation. When Ark couldn't be bullied into saying what was discussed at the workplace meeting that was called to demand greater safety, he was charged, dragged through the courts and threatened with jail. He was later aquitted and awarded costs.

He never set out to be a hero, but he was prepared to go to jail in order to defend the rights of work of the hundreds of thousands of men and women who work in the Australian building and construction industry.

Ark has the admiration and respect of the entire union movement.

Farewell to a union warrior.

You obviously do not know what a warrior is.

Here is a hint, not some union grub.

Without unions underpinning wages and conditions, you would not be able to negotiate a fair return for your services.  If everyone else is paid $10 a day, how do you imagine any company is going to take you on as a contracted employee for a heap more?

That's what contracted employees and salarymen always forget while assuming they are a 'better class'.

As for Howard's McCarthyist Star Chamber, it's always good to see the COURTS throw out such Fascist insanity, as they are doing with the 'royal commission' garbage.  Another waste of public money on a purely political pursuit of ideology... always plenty more where that came from.... keep working and paying your taxes, BO - I'm sure the government has plenty of ways of spending it for you.   Roll Eyes

It's not much, though - work it out - 12m workers, and say $84m to pay for a 'royal commission' is only $7 a worker... not bad for a chance to fatten a few mates.. it's all relative and nobody would miss the price of a schooner out of their pay to fund a mate of the government and his retirement.

By that kind of reasoning, the government could afford to fund every pipe dream it has, and just take all the pay of everyone who works to fund it.... no problem.

I understand what qualifies as an ass hole.

Insulting someone who has just died - full of class.

It is highly likely that the stress of the barbaric encounter with the Liberals disgraceful ABCC has shortened his life.

A brave man - RIP Ark.

Making them out to be some sort of warrior when they are just a friggen union official is insulting to actual warriors who have died.

False valor, you see it here every day, you should be able to recognise it by now.

Yes SJW (Social Justice Warriors) who in reality are nothing more the LWNJ.  Grin Grin Grin

There is  a narrow meaning for warrior and that is all; same goes for hero, civilians seem to be a bit fast and loose with that term too.

Ark was an employee - you could at least know what you are talking about before insulting the freshly deceased.

A brave warrior who stood up against evil.

Less then 10% in the armed forces would have the need to show more bravery, and that is a good thing.
