Does anyone else have those nights where they have vision distortions in a way that things up close look to be in the distant? Sometimes I see varying colours, like green or grey, on a light background (such as OzPol) and a numbing headache with a sensation going through the teeth. I have had this come around every year since I was a child. Going to go google this.

Sounds like a migraine headache.
Is it mostly on one side of the head?

Much like going outside helps sun exposure to build up vitamin D production. But you are probably one of those "it's the skin cancer! it's the skin cancer!" type people that thinks any sun exposure is bad exposure.

Incorrect. But you only need about 20-30 minutes tops of sun exposure.

And I can find no peer-reviewed evidence showing the  effect of alcohol, so I'll leave it there.

Really, only thing for colds is stay hydrated, eat healthy, no alcohol, rest. Maybe some drugs to control the symptoms.
I believe there is a study done by one of the Scandanavian countries which directly correlates increased sun exposure to increased life expectancy. Ive never believed in the sun = skin cancer myth as propogated by the anti cancer run for vested interests industry and some other studies show that dietary factors show a stronger link to skin cancer than sun exposure by itself.

I take vit D pill and have Vit B injections....what the heck have I been doing wrong???>....

its daft really we are all different  I lived in Wollongong when I was a lot younger and was always on the beach.... I wouldnt dream of it now....but I think I have had more than my share of the sun...yet I am low on Vit D.
We need the sun every day, you cant store vitamin D, and supplements are useless.

It does sound like a migraine.
When I get migraines I have a shimmering blind spot in my vision which grows and gradually moves off to the side of my vision over the course of half an hour.
Presumably different people experience migraines in different ways.

I thought we had already decided on the cure?

The cure is:

a tot of whisky,
a tot of rum,
2 cloves of garlic,
2 tablespoons of honey,
4 panadols &
30 drops of Laudanum.

My diagnosis of UnsubRocky's case, high pressure in the eye and possible glaucoma risk:

High pressure in your eyes which can cause loss of vision if not corrected. See an eye specialist.

If its high pressure due to blockages of the fluid path in your eye it is simple fix by minor laser eye surgery.

The effect can be intermittent and fleeting because high pressure may not be sustained. If that is so, you are lucky if it induces you to seek treatment before the damage becomes more serious.

https://healthyinfodaily.com/8-symptoms-of-glaucoma/8/

Quote:
2. Distorted Vision

In addition to having to deal with the affects of blurry vision, encountering distorted vision is yet another degenerative sign of having the disease. Unlike blurred vision which entails not being able to see a clear image of an object (objects appear out of focus), distorted vision is characterized as seeing objects that abnormally appear to be warped or bent out of alignment from the shape of familiarity you usually associate them with having. The damage received by the optic nerve due to the build-up of pressure in the eye can indeed cause one to undergo this effect as one of many. If you are experiencing any signs of abnormal vision, please consult with your local ophthalmologist for possible glaucoma diagnosis and treatment to further avoid any irreparable damage to the eye. ...

... 4. Eye Pain

With glaucoma (narrow-angle in particular), blockage for the draining of the eye is created due to the narrow/closed angle of the eye canal and this creates rapid pressure build-up within the eye. In so saying, the internal eye pressure usually brings about extreme discomfort and eye pain. Being that the cornea of the eye is highly sensitive to pain, people tend to experience sensations within their eyes that may feel sharp, aching, throbbing, or even as if something foreign is in their eye. In addition to this, exposure to bright light is also known to worsen eye pain. Furthermore, pain and irritation of the eyes will cause them to appear red. ...

... 6. Sudden Visual Disturbance

Due to the fact that glaucoma is characterized as being an eye disease that occurs with no forewarning symptoms, many individuals who unknowingly have the disease will usually experience a sudden visual disturbance. This type of disturbance is describes as being the instance in which one goes from having normal vision and being able to see objects in focus, to immediately having abnormal vision in which objects become hard to see or are out of focus. People diagnosed as having the open-angle type of disease most likely experience this symptom because in contrast to that of the narrow-angle type that openly exhibits a defective eye, the eyes of those with open-angle appear to be normal.
...

... 7. Headache

It can be obviously concluded that those who have to suffer through the painful effects of optic nerve damage experience abnormal visual perspectives that tend to be accompanied by headaches. The inability to properly see out of the eyes and the consistent straining to do so can be very stressful and can make one feel lightheaded—bringing about headaches. Headaches that arise can usually be felt in the forehead above the eyes or in and around the eye region itself. Nevertheless, these occurring aches brought on by the disease will also range in pain intensity from mild, to moderate, and severe. ...

The sensation is gone now. It had a shorter lifespan this year than any other year. Normally I get that sensation of jaw numbness, headache (which I guess was to one side), slight blurred, distorted depth perception vision, and the varying of colours.

Normally, I get that feeling around the time I am either about to be ill or on the mend.

If problems persist beyond a day, I go to see a doctor. I am now more reluctant to see a doctor, as my last visit to emergency meant that I was considered a hypochondriac. A supervisor took some late night students through the wards for assessment of patients. When they got to my bed, the supervisor claimed that I took my time to get to the emergency department; that there was no signs of any problems I claimed I had; and because of my schizophrenia, would be considered non-believable for claiming that I had a medical issue.

So far, my only issue health-wise so far is that I have more trouble seeing than usual.

Yes. But this headache/visual distortion has been happening since before I was diabetic. And I have been having circulation problems for the last 10 years. Seems to be correcting itself as of recent.

A recent change in diet and slightly more exercise does anyone wonders.

Going for a nightly walk, most nights. Lower sugar intake.
