What if the baby says no, I want to paint the walls?

Unfortunately for me my GD wants me to change her nappies. If I'm around and she shytes herself, it poppy, poopoo and points to her arse. I've done my time as a nappy changer and I tell her "no mummy" or "no daddy" depending on who is around. She still gets me to smell her shyte though as she will grab my hand and drag me to the changing table. I have to stand there holding her hand and we make jokes about the smell. I don't give my consent to change nappies, does it work both ways?

Yeah I didn't give 2ndborn consent to touch his poop and then touch my clean work shirt today.

I wonder what bubblegum head thanks about that?

All this really teaches children is that seeking consent is a meaningless gesture - that you should pretend that someone has a choice when they don't. Good training for a middle management position I suppose.

I can't handle the smell.

I dry  gag

So my wonderful wife looked after that side of the business.

I was the book reader, dressed and carry all the stuff around person.

Is it just me or does anyone else have the same problem as I do

Taking a baby anywhere requires the logistics skill of a fleet captain
The packing skills of an Ikea boxer
The motivation of a saint
The foreknowledge of a medium
And a vehicle with a walk in boot.

I HAVE A DREAM
A WONDERFUL, PEACEFUL, BEAUTIFUL DREAM.
A DREAM OF A WORLD THAT HAS NEVER KNOWN ISLAM
A DREAM OF A WORLD FREE FROM THE HORRORS OF ISLAM.

SUCH A WONDERFUL DREAM
O HOW I WISH IT WERE TRU

Now now, we have a hearse for the old boy, dear. The cadaver needs to feel comfortable, no?

Pretending your kids have a choice when they do not is a very important part of parenting. You can either go head to head or offer choices. They will take one of the choices offered. For example, "We are going to XX's place today, and I'd like you to dress nicely so you will wear this", Child revolts vs "We are going to XX's place today, and I'd like you to dress nicely so you will wear this or this or this, the choice is yours, what would you like to wear?" Child will choose.

Do they actually have a choice in what they wear? If so, there is no deception there about choice or consent. Only distraction.

They have a choice, though limited and chosen by the parent before hand. It's a loaded deck for the child but they are children and accept the choice over being told there is none. I know it works because that is how I dealt with my sons. Our house was a "pretend" democracy and they were given a say in many things even though their choices were predetermined. It also makes them learn how to make life choices, it teaches them how to choose.

Every day in The Land Of The Insane, a New Madness arises... each new Madness born from the fruits of the last multiple Madnesses and from the unholy coupling of demented minds to knowledge.... an act of quasi-creation carried out furtively in the darkest alleys and unlit lane ways of the human mind and perpetrated on a humanity on its knees and forced to suck deeply of this forbidden ejaculation of thought  ...... then there is the question of the human soul........ and the part it plays in this Mary Shelley style creation of monsters.....

My poor Krell - they never knew what was happening to them...Monsters From the Id.....

That would be a good start to a book Grap. It grabs the interest, sets the scene. Are you into writing dark fiction?

No. The old boy had no say over his dark suit, bow tie and makeup. The funeral parlour dresses all the cadavers like that. The old boy has no choice in being dressed up like a ventriloquist's dummy.

It's not his fault if he sounds as offended as one.

Of course there is choice. It's also distraction. You are setting them up in a way they they accept. They will love you for it.

My only point was, it's a completely different situation to asking a kid if they consent to having their nappy changed, when they do not have that choice.

The old boy will love anyone who puts their hand up his bottom, makes his eyes blink and moves his wooden jaw up and down while drinking a glass of water.

Offended?

Which is a rather stupid stance to take from the person that made it. My point is children can be influenced in a positive way. If you do that, consent will always be there because they trust you.
